He lazily watched her from the table as she bustled around the kitchen clearing away the dinner dishes. While she was far from petite, there was a certain degree of dignity and fluid grace that was ingrained in all her movements that he found simply fascinating to behold.
Unable to resist, he strode behind her as she wiped a counter, wrapped his arms around her waist and nuzzled her neck. She closed her eyes and shuddered, as a small moan escaped her lips. He smiled at his ability to elicit such responses from her so easily. He gently cupped her chin, turned her head and stared into her honeyed eyes for a moment before capturing her lips in a searing kiss. As her arms snaked around his neck, he bent to lift her into his arms and whisked her away to the bed.
He took his time worshipping her body and brought her to heights of ecstasy he knew she seldom ever reached - and when she did it was only with him. Her head was thrown back allowing her hair to flow over the pillows in a wild, glorious array. She was truly magnificent. As he gazed down upon her flushed face, some unknown emotion cracked deep within his chest.
Once she was asleep he slipped from the bed, dressed and left the humble dwelling. A short while later he made his way up the dark and desolate street to enter his ramshackle home. He walked into his study, retrieved a small phial from a hidden cabinet and sank into an armchair momentarily lost in thought. It had been two years since the defeat of the Dark Lord and he was amazed to have even survived, much less escape a sentence in Azkaban.
He was tired of his miserable life.
As the Polyjuice Potion wore off Severus Snape glanced at the unconscious man bound and prone on his floor. For much too long he had watched this man lead a meager, but otherwise happy existence with a dutiful wife and a brood of children. He was no longer content to steal moments that belonged to another. Without further thought, he drank the potion that would permanently render him into the form that would allow him lease to a new life.
"Good-bye, Arthur," Severus said as he raised his wand. "I promise to treasure her always."
