two more drabbles - Being Human

Apr 18, 2009 23:11

Titles: Night and Day
Fandom: Being Human
Author: Rose Wilde-Irish
Length: Two drabbles, 100 words each
Rating: Teen
Characters: Mitchell (Night) and George (Day), UST
Notes: For pierson, who gave me the prompts "Mitchell, the full moon" and "George, daylight". I kind of picture Original!Mitchell, though both pilot and series are referenced, I think.

Night

He used to love the full moon.

It gave back light, lush and full and to his newly sensitive eyes, as bright, almost, as day. Three nights a month, and he could pretend: he wasn't nearly so different, not truly.

That was before. Before he'd grown tired, jaded of the adoration of those like him, yet not. Before he'd seen them for the heartless bastards they truly were. Before he'd turned away from them, rescued one who ranked even below prey.

Now, he only holds tight the scrap of jewelry, and counts the hours, the minutes, the seconds, until day.

Day

Every time he sees Mitchell in daylight, he wonders what else the legends have wrong. Seeing a vampire standing on the street, normal as you please - he can't help but marvel. Clearly, the legends could use some tinkering.

It makes him wonder about silver bullets and holy water and countless things that could be used to kill them, and each time, he reminds himself to ask Mitchell.

Each time he starts to bring it up, he remembers the many legends that pit vampire against werewolf, and he keeps silent.

If they're meant to be enemies, he'd rather not know.
