audiofic continued.

Progress update on the audiofic idea is that I have downloaded a program called Audacity (which I am now doing battle with because it does not want to save MP3s even though I'd supposedly installed the add-on for this, appropriately called LAME, but I think I have it sussed) and bought a new headset microphone and it must've been the old program or old mic that I was using that caused the volume issue, because now it seems OK.

Now I just need to nail the actual reading-aloud part. There are a lot of sounds my voice tends to blur, but particularly the 'r' sound. *Curses* I read 'Bottle Garden' into it earlier, but I think there's so much needs work that I'll be overlaying most of it with a new reading.

...And then I walk around for the rest of the day talking to everyone in my half-assed bastard take on received pronounciation rather than broad Leeds accent.

Hope I can make the recording clearer when I start playing around with effects. At the moment, it's got my voice rather low.

Inserting bits of music for background at beginning and end, and maybe in between sections? Good/bad? Yes/no?

EDIT: btw, I will try to record everything that got picked up in the poll sooner or later.
