"Sora?" Goofy called, loudly, followed by Donald's grumbing. They'd been looking for him all day; it was nice to visit Radient Garden after a few weeks away, but that didn't mean he had to wonder off. From the market to the castle, they'd been calling, and not even Aerith had seen him. Now they were the gardens (still under construction, because Radient Garden was recovering in small but noticeable movements), the last place anyone would think to look.
Which might have been the point, because they heard familiar laughter from behind a line of tall hedges, and went racing right through. Sora was sprawled on the ground with a large something hoovering over him, protesting breathlessly, "H-hey, stop that, it tickles!"
They stared for a moment (no emblem on its chest, so it wasn't a Heartless or a Nobody-), and then Goofy gaffed and smiled, before Donald could explode. "Ah, shucks. Will you look at that; he made a new friend."
The creature standing over the boy turned it's round eye to regard them, and pronounced, "Kweh!"
Sora followed it's gaze and, seeing them, guiltily rubbed the back of his head. "Ah, hey guys."
"Now see here," Donald warbled, loud and agitated. "Don't go off like that on your own, Sora-"
The large yellow bird let out something that sounded like 'wark', interrupting him, and fluffed out it's feathers in a way that made it seem bigger. Donald bubbled something else out (a protest of some sort) in a way neither Sora or Goofy could understand, but the bird was still looking at him, avidly now, and standing over its 'friend'.
"Um, Donald-"
"Shut up!" Or it might have been "Don't interfere!", but neither was sure if was even real words in the first place-
And then the yellow creature, in one fell swoop, jumped away from Sora and over Goofy, to peck Donald right in the middle of his forehead. "Ow!" Again, and again. And again. All the way around the garden and half way to the market.
Later, with Aerith bandaging Donald's poor head (and giggling behind her hand), Leon (stern faced) and Cid (laughing uproariously) explained Chocobos and their temperaments to the three. Cloud (leaning against the wall and regarding the lot with a frown) had no comment.
