liddat hor, instead of studying so hard for qualifications, you better get some white pigment and dye your skin pale pale. then secretly teach the Korean/Japanese children the awful singlish/manglish pidgin. then they know. padan muka

It's almost the same in Japan- I've heard students complain because they got a black teacher, and one student even told me that "Black people don't speak proper English so they can't teach English,"... meanwhile, there are no racial discrimiation laws in Japan either.

I agree racism exists everywhere, but it seems much more blatant in Korea than anywhere else in this part of the world. Some Koreans are not just ignorant towards outside races therefore have misconceptions about their language abilities (perhaps that's the case in Japan), but they have the phobia that outsiders would horribly taint them or something. It's almost unexplainable..

I recently started looking for a position to teach English in South Korea, however after the common occurance of discrimination I have faced, and the countless reports of these incidents from other foreigners, I am quite discouraged from choosing this country for a teaching position ( ... )
