I'm finishing a Judge Dee mystery, Necklace and Calabash.
And I'm also reading A Passion for Mars, which more than anything is a collection of short bios about many of the major players in the exploration of the planet. I am always struck by the sort of people NASA employs. Many, many of the mars explorers had no particular fascination with mars grwoing up, but rather with the fields that NASA needs to explore mars. Geology, geography, map making, oceanography, rocketry, navigation, power generation, communications, etc. They are almost universally obsessed with what they do. Sadly, almost universally men, but that may change (be changing). And almost universally, SF fans growing up. Modern science has no idea the debt it owes to Edgar Rice Burroughs!
On deck - a raft of YA books. I have been informed that I am falling woefully behind in my obligation to provide suggestions.
