Day Seven: Six foods you love (and why!)
Alright....
I'm sick so nothing tastes good, which makes this a weird time to write about food, but oh well, this is the hand I've been dealt. In no particular order, because my brain also hurts...
7. Avocados. I will happily eat avocados by themselves, with a little salt and pepper and a spoon. But I will also put them on anything that doesn't seem weird to put them on, and eat them in delicious guacamole.
6. A good rib-eye. I could take or leave red meat or meat in general with the exception of good burgers and good steak. Rib-eye is my favorite hands down. I blame this partially on
groogle 5. Green chile. I'm not sure if this counts as a food I love or a chemical imbalance I get if I don't have it...I'm still convinced that although they've "proven" it's not "addictive" they must be putting something in it that makes you crave it in ridiculous ways so you stay in the state, because Lord knows it's insanely hard to find outside NM or its direct border lines.
4. Lobster. I need to travel to Maine once just so I can go on lobster overload on the cheap.
3. Strawberries. Look, if you eat something knowing it will give you hives because you like it, you really like it. Luckily, I was only allergic to the beasties when I was a kid. In my non allergic strawberry eating years, my sister and I have teamed up to demolish single-handedly fruit trays at any party that finds us both in attendance. Be warned.
2. Gino's East deep dish. I've finally settled on my one ultimate pizza, and this is it. Yes, I love the Pizza Place in Round Lake, I think Lou does a damn good job, and I think Uno's is tops. Rosati's is tasty....and i like pizza in general...but Gino's East is a different animal. It is perfect sauce, crust, and cheese, it is something to contend with, it is Chicago....and I loves me some. Now I want some, but it'd be a shame to eat it now, I wouldn't taste it as much.
1. The roasted red pepper pasta I found the recipe for on The Pioneer Woman. Have you heard of her, because she is fabulous... www.thepioneerwomancooks.com ... anyway, it's a meatless pasta with a.ma.zing. flavor and I adore it.
