I love the JHU library. I want to steal all its books. I found Brendan Kenneley's translation of The Trojan Women by Euripides, and Two Years Before the Mast, which I have not actually read yet but I've been dying to for weeks, and a great little hardback edition of Howl (which Commune Girl has to read) and it's absolutely awesome.

Of course, I can't actually check out any books (being a visitor) so I just sit in the basement all evening and start making tentative cast lists for next spring's production of Trojan Women. (You know how MBC productions are famous for having maybe three female roles maximum, except for the musicals, and even those are mostly bad roles requiring us to play wives to skanky 50-year old guys? Yeah, well this play would not be like that.) There are four major major female parts and room for at least 15 more good speaking female roles and I already know some people in MBC theatre I want for them. Oh, it is such a rocking awesome play- it's feminist and post-feminist and anti-war and has lots of resonance with all kinds of issues like family values and poverty and it's CLASSICS so dean buller will be happy too. Perhaps SOULS might be interested? I don't have to direct it but I want to see it done.
