just take a moment...

Fall has begun:)

I know fall officially began last week, but I was too busy with work to really pay too much attention. But today on my drive into work, I was sitting at a stop light and just sort of staring at nothing and then I noticed something descending from the sky on to the hood of my car. It was the leaves of the tree towering over the sidewalk next to me. They have finally begun to fall and cover the ground. Autumn is here....

There's a soft chill in the air in the morning now and it feels like back to school/football season weather...just cool enough for a t-shirt and jeans and a pull-over hoodie at night. My favorite time of year (even though I usually prefer summer over anything, since fall turns into the bitter coldness of winter).

In that split moment before the light turned green and I tuned back into the reality of heading into the office to sit behind this desk and computer, I enjoyed the simple memories of being in high school or college just sitting through class and looking forward to the lazy afternoons of tv, hanging out with friends, and weekends of football and tailgating.

But what was I so distracted by to miss all of this last week?

Our big Pure Revolution Family Conference in Vacaville, CA outside of Sacramento. It's the big conference that I've spent the last year coordinating and been caught up in especially the last three months. It was the first one ever and I was in charge of bringing it all together between my minister that I manage Doug Herman who created the idea of Pure Revolution, my ministry, and the host ministry out there in California. And it was awesome!!

We flew out of Nashville last Wednesday to be out there Thursday to go over some final details and the conference started Friday evening with the first session and a concert with the Christian rock band, Seventh Day Slumber. The conference was also all day Saturday with Doug speaking as well as one of the top speakers in the country, Pam Stenzel, and Lincoln Brewster leading worship. We had a turn out of over 650 people including Moms, Dads, and their kids!! It was a conference to discuss family relationships between mom and dad, parents and kids, purity, and how to deal with the issues that face teenagers. Many kids came to know Christ and rededicate their lives to him. We also partnered with the Compassion International ministry and had 84 kids sponsored this weekend by families and teens themselves!!

I spent most of the weekend trying to make sure everything was running smoothly and that things were being taken care of as they needed to be, but it went very well and no one could even tell that this was the first time we ever held this conference.

It was a long, tiring, and rewarding experience and I am so thankful to have been a part of it.
