Looks like this will be an update in installments, considering I've got hella lot to tell y'all.
So, first things first, I backed into my sister's car yesterday morning. Her mirror broke off and the fender over her wheel well rippled. On the van, I broke the top of the brake light cover, and, after going to get some estimates, we discovered the rear bumper/fender bit probably needs to be replaced as well. About $2000 damage in five seconds. Grand.
I guess I shouldn't be that unhappy.
Right, so, travel things:
Last week of July, I headed off to the HOBY WLC in DC. I could write for hours about all the amazing things that happened while I was there, but I'm not sure how much I want to bore y'all. I'll try to stick to the basics here...
Day one: Arrived in DC, met people, generally nothing too fantastic (mind you, in the HOBY scope of things, even a nothing too fantastic day far surpasses anything at home. It could be because I itch to get away from here... I don't know). Met my group (G2 Flamingos, the coolest people ever. So there.) and my roomates. They're fantastic. They're geese! ... sorry, drama joke.
Day 2: Began program... biggest thing: Went to the national cathedral, which is quite possibly the biggest building I've ever seen before. I'm not much on the Catholic establishments, but that thing is GORGEOUS. We also started choir practice (In 7 days, a group of 400+ highschoolers, the majority of which had no previous vocal training, memorized four songs ("The Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha, "Seasons of Love" from Rent, "Bridge Over Troubled Waters," and "We Are the World") in multiple parts, plus solos, and performed a gorgeous concert).
I loved our choir director. He's a real killer of a guy, to be honest. For example, he calls his directing baton “Mr. Schtick.” Yeah, he’s got that kind of personality.
That's it for now.
Oh, by the way, just about everything on LJ won't work for me right now. Is anyone else experiencing glitches?
car crash,
