Since we actually did something interesting around here...

I decided that our home school is going to get out of the house once a week even if it's just to go to the local park. Last week we caught the beach for about 45 minutes after picking up #2 from college to bring her home.

This week we went to http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/raro/main.php .  It's called Raven Rock because early settlers, I think looking from the river, thought it looked like a raven perched there. We've been before, but they recently finished a visitor's center and decided to check it out. We picked yesterday because it was going to be cool and overcast.

Here is the "gang," in front of the visitor center:

For anyone who's interested, the green sweater on the baby is the first one I ever did steeking on.  I made it for the child holding the baby, about ten years ago.

The  visitor's center is pretty cool. There was some good historical, geographical, and geological information about the area. Then we went to walk down one of the trails to the river edge, where the rock is.  Here are the kids on the trail:

For some reason, certain people would rather push the stroller than ride in it.

When we get to the river,

... we have to go down a series of steps...

I've never seen the rock such that it looks like a raven. You probably have to be on the river or across it.  I think my kids are standing under its left wing, here:
