Her blue-eyed gaze falling upon the small bundle of red flowers in her hands, Euphemia took no notice of the figure approaching her till he was already beside her.
"Your highness?"
The smile on her face lit up even more as she shook her head, pink curls brushing against her face.
"Suzaku, I've told you to just call m-" Peeking up at her knight, the young woman instantly became speechless. How strange she suddenly felt, staring up at the young man. There didn't appear to be anything different about him, but she suddenly couldn't form a coherent sentence staring into his handsome features. His beautiful green eyes widened in concern slightly, causing Euphemia's cheeks to burn.
"Euphie, you remember what today is, right?"
Nodding, the princess gazed down at Suzaku's hands. "Of course. It's your birthday today, isn't it?"
"That's right." She glanced up to see the smile on his face widen to a lighthearted grin. "Do I get a present?"
She held up the bouquet of flowers in her hand. "I was just picking flowers for you."
To her surprise, Suzaku shook his head, the smile fading away. "That isn't what I mean, Euphie."
As he stepped forward towards Euphemia, strong arms suddenly snaked around her waist as the girl's blush deepened. Though he appeared to be very serious about what was going on, the hint of a smile tugging at his corner of his mouth appeared to give him away to the young woman.
"Su-Suzaku..." Her voice came out in a soft whisper. But she couldn't help herself as she leaned into his embrace, her head tilting backwards as she gazed up at him-...
