I thought that after the royal wedding was over, I could stop hearing about Kate Middleton. (Nothing against her, I was just tired of the media's obsessiveness.) NOPE! Today I was deleting my junk mail that made it to my inbox and I got a BRIDES magazine email that talked about Zara Phillips' wedding - and spotlighted what Kate Middleton wore. The article noted that she work it once to a wedding in 2006. And I just thought, how fucking ridiculous is this, that the media know what she's worn to a wedding that happened 5 years ago? Damn, you can't just rewear and hope nobody knows. (And it was snarky, too: something like "This wedding didn't have as much pomp and circumstance as Kate and Will's. Perhaps because of that, Kate Middleton wore a suit she already wore.") The suit was gorgeous, who cares?

Also. Every time there's a dress with long lace sleeves, it is a "Kate-inspired dress." And every time there's a slim one with a cowl-neck, it's "taking a cue from Pippa," even though that style was in vogue before Pippa Middleton wore it and that's the reason she wore the dress.

I'm possibly a little irritated because at present, my colors are blue and yellow, and I wanted to wear sapphire jewelry. I had this idea before Kate Middleton got married. I don't even care that it's popular - I'm not one of those 'it's popular now it sucks' kind of people - but I don't want to be thought of as doing it because some royal decided to wear it too.
