Guess who has a kitty!

ME! I wasnt looking for one or anything but you know how these things go. SO, last night I was driving around, looking for a fabric store, and i get all turned around (surprise). When i finally get to New Hampshire, and dont be fooled it was entirely accidental AND i was going the wrong way, i see this kitten sitting right in the middle of the road. Now, just a little background for you non-dc folks, New Hampshire Ave is a busy, unlit, 45 mph (which means as fast as traffic allows to any local driver) 4 lane road. So, i quickly pull over, hop out and as im walking towards him, i notice an ambulance move into the oncoming traffic lane (his lane) to get around the backed up cars. AHHH! I start running as fast as i can towards him and scoop him up just in time to avoid us both getting hit by the ambulance. He never tried to run or anything and as soon as we got to the car he just curled up in my lap and went to sleep. Poor thing, hes all skin and bones and was covered with red paint, poo and fleas to the point of anemia. The local pet store hooked me up with kitty supplies and we got him up, about and eating in no time. I took him to the vet this evening and so far (blood tests are still out) so good, he is just less than half the weight he should be. Considering how weak and little he is, it could be alot worse. We're working on getting rid of the fleas, hes been de-wormed and once he's strong enough he'll be able to get all of his vaccines. Personally, im just surprised he made it this long. Hes a lap kitty with a loud pur, and the first cat ive met whos been cool with bathes. So far, his name is Oliver. Not for any reason other than its a cute name and he looks like an Oliver. Barring some weird change in circumstances, i think it will stick.
