IC:

Character name: Euphemia Li Britanna
Fandom: Code Geass
Timeline: Shortly after announcing her plans for the Special Administrative Zone.
Age: 16

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: None! No, really. Euphemia is a completely normal human being. She has no super strength or speed or magical powers to speak of. Her abilities lie solely in her skills as a political figure and as an incredibly warm hearted person.

How would they use their abilities?: Euphemia would always use her abilities to help people. She prefers to negotiate rather than fight (She can't fight at all!) but would always do so on the behalf of others and rarely herself.

Appearance: Euphemia is a beautiful young woman with very long, pink hair and violet eyes. Her hair is bunched up on either side of her head into an odd bun style. (Not entirely unlike Lea from Star Wars.) She is slender, a bit on the tall side and healthy. Her skin is pale and her womanly figure near perfect. Though she appears frail, Euphemia is surprisingly athletic though she lacks any significant physical strength. She wears clothes fitting for royalty. Her favorite is a pink, violet and white dress. However in addition she also has more casual clothes suitable for disguise (as her face is well known) or simply going out. She has a set style, preferring "girly" type wear. She likes long dresses and typically favors fancy attire even with casual clothing. Euphemia wears jewelry, likes clothes with her favorite flower (a rose) on them and loves the color pink. All of this which shows in her appearance. [IMAGE]

Background/Personality:

In an alternate reality the Britannia Empire controls half the known world. Its most recent conquest is the country of Japan, which surrenders to its forces and is thus renamed Area 11. Now it is under control of the Britannia Empire, which causes great conflict as the prideful people of Japan don't want to submit so easily. One day a boy named Lelouch Lamperouge meets a girl named C.C. who gives him the mysterious power known as Geass. With it he is able to bend the will of others, able to give people commands that they will obey without question. With this new power Lelouch decides to take revenge against the Empire for the death of his mother and the crippling of his little sister Nunnally. It is revealed Lelouch is actually a son of the Britannia Emperor who abandoned him after his mother's death. Thus Lelouch, under the alias Zero, rallies the Japanese rebels to fight and uses them for his cause to destroy his father.

The third princess of the Britannia Imperial Family, Euphemia is Lelouch Lamperouge's half-sister and the sister he cares about most after Nunnally. Euphemia is the Lieutenant-Governor of Area 11, a role she admittedly does not enjoy. As a child she was quite close to Lelouch and Nunnally. The death of their mother and their disappearance that occurred as a result made her very sad. She never lost hope that they were alive somewhere. One day she has a fateful encounter with Suzaku Kururugi shortly after he is cleared of the charge for Clovis La Britannia's death who was the former Lieutenant-Governor of Area 11. The two spend the day together and quickly become fast friends. A skirmish between Suzaku and a group of Japanese citizens, however, causes her to reveal her identity as the third princess of Britannia to him. She asks for his help in preventing any more unnecessary deaths like that of her brother Clovis.

Subsequently, Euphemia is one of the detained visitors at the Lake Kawaguchi Convention Center Hotel when it is taken over by Japanese rebels. As her sister Cornelia tries to decide what action to take, the terrorists threaten a girl named Nina. Euphemia reveals her identity in order to make them stop and offers herself as a hostage to Zero in exchange for the safety of the other detainees. Zero instead kills the extremists, stating that his rebellion does not sink to such lows. He also remarks that Euphemia has not changed since childhood and that he is not surprised to see her sacrifice herself for others. He then lets all the hostages go and his statement causes Euphemia to begin suspecting that Zero is actually Lelouch.

Afterward, concerned about Euphemia's safety, Cornelia persuades her younger sister to select a Knight to protect her. After resolving the conflict between her own ideals and Cornelia's advice, Euphemia chooses Suzaku Kururugi. Cornelia worries that Euphemia's ideals will get her sister into trouble and warns Euphemia that the policy of discrimination against Honorary Britannians like Suzaku are so firmly-established that she might have to be exposed to the rigors and dangers of competing for the throne in order to challenge it. Regardless, Euphemia adamantly sticks to her decision and Suzaku remains her Knight until he voluntarily steps down after he is arrested for deserting the frontlines during a battle against Zero. Euphemia convinces him to rejoin her and eventually declares her love for him.

In the immediate aftermath of the Battle at Shikinejima Island Base, Euphemia encounters Zero when the two of them are stranded on a nearby island. She reveals her knowledge that Zero is Lelouch and he comes clean, trusting that she will keep his alter ego a secret. Euphemia is very happy to find that he is alive and well. This incident later allows her to reconnect with Lelouch and Nunnally when she secretly visits them at the Ashford Academy during a school festival. When her cover is blown Euphemia makes a surprising announcement to the media present. Wishing to live the peaceful days she once had with Nunnally and Lelouch, she declares the establishment of a Special Administrative Region in Japan for the Japanese people where they can live free once more. Though met with disapproval, her plans go forth with the help of her older brother Schneizel El Britannia, who supports her idea and promises to inform Cornelia of it. [I am taking Euphie from this point.]

Lelouch, when he meets her as Zero, reveals to her his opposition but becomes convinced of her idea when she reveals she is doing it for the sake of Nunnally and has abdicated her right to succeed the Britannian throne. However, upon agreeing to Euphemia's proposal, Lelouch jokingly orders her to kill the Japanese people just as his power of Geass activates permanently and not of his own volition. Euphemia initially tries to resist the order and briefly succeeds but is soon overtaken by its power. Under its influence she leads the Britannian army to massacre all the Japanese who had come to support her initial idea. With regret, Lelouch fatally shoots her to end her rampage while revealing that he may have considered Euphemia his first love. Suzaku arrives too late but rushes her to safety anyway. As she dies she asks if the Japanese people were happy with what she had done, unable to remember the massacre Lelouch sent her on. Suzaku tells her they were, allowing her die happily believing the people were happy with the Japan she had created.

Euphemia is painfully optimistic. Her ideals are very unrealistic and clash with the way society is which is evident in her idea to create the Special Administrative Region. Yet despite that she remains strong in her beliefs and what she thinks is right and wrong. She chooses Suzaku as her Knight despite strong opposition because she believes he will uphold her values. Open minded, she is innocent almost to a fault but is very kind and caring. She worries about those close to her and anyone who is her friend will always get her uttermost attention and love. Euphie even gives attention to strangers such as when she meets Nina again and, after her guards treat the girl cruelly, she takes her in to take care of her injuries. She loves her family even though she does not always agree with their way of handling things. She is especially close to her older sister Cornelia and older brother Schneizal. Euphemia hates war and all forms of combat and is willing to compromise in any situation in order to avoid bloodshed. Yet she is still a royal princess, slightly sheltered and naive to the world. She speaks properly and politely, and addresses everyone with respect whether or not they are above or beneath her in status.

She is very insightful and someone who may appear evil to everyone else (but truly isn't) may gain her understanding. She sees Zero for who he truly is before anyone else and even recognizes his soft hearted reason for his rebellion all before even confirming it was Lelouch. Though Euphemia can act a bit ditzy and naive she is an amazingly strong person and is not as transparent as she often acts. Her heart is strong and she believes in people. It is both her greatest strength and also her greatest weakness. Her faith in Zero/Lelouch is what ultimately leads to her death and yet her trust in strangers like Nina helps her grow as a person herself. Either way it is this courage and faith in humanity that wins the undying love of her people and others around her. Euphemia's ability to earn the trust of the others and, in turn, their respect is quite amazing and is something most members of the royal family don't possess. She is willing to stand up to anyone, be it an authority above her or an angry mob. Even a gun to her head doesn't frighten her and she will speak her mind no matter what the outcome. She puts others before herself, which gives her firm resolve in almost everything she does yet often puts her own life in grave danger.

She is shown to be stubborn and quite reckless. She storms right into the middle of a battle in order to protect Suzaku but only succeeds in getting herself caught in the ensuing blast. It's thus clear she doesn't entirely value her own life if it means it will be exchanged to save another. Her selfless attitude is very easily manipulated as both Lelouch and Cornelia note. She will do anything if the enemy has someone hostage, either someone she cares about (such in the case with Suzaku) or a stranger (such as the case with Nina). Her status allows her to have a keen understanding of political procedures. Although young and occasionally childish, when it comes to these matters Euphemia can be pretty serious and mature. It is this side of her coupled with her sweet nature that inspires that loyalty from the people that few members of the royal family have. It also gives her a nature ability as a leader thought she doesn't see this in herself.

1st person sample:

[When the video comes flickering on it's upside down. She smiles and then blinks.] Oh! [And there it does, right side up. She's smiling again.]

Ah... Is this working? I'm sorry, this is a bit strange for me. Not that I'm not use to such things but still.. Oh, sorry.

[Her 'sorry' is uttered to an alien that comes shoving past her. She shuffles away and does a double take.] Oh, that was... um... What a strange costume.

Forgive me, but I have to ask... Is this really outer space? O-Or... and it isn't true what they say about the world being destroyed, is it? Something like that seems awfully far-fetched.

3rd person sample:

During her down time Euphemia sometimes felt at a loss. She was so use to being constantly watched, constantly spoken to and constantly surrounded by people that when she found herself alone it sometimes baffled her. Standing in the middle of her luxurious room listening to the crackling fireplace, Euphemia could do nothing but stare absently at the wall. She thought about nothing in particular and felt nothing in particular aside from a curious lack of things to do. Even, abruptly, she snapped herself awake and crossed the room. On the mantle there sat several photos. All of them were of her dear family and she mentally noted, with sadness, that she didn't have one of Suzaku here. A small smile crossed her lips. Not yet. Maybe after the ceremony she would ask him for one.

With gentle hands she picked up a particular picture and gazed fondly at it. A young boy with dark hair peered back at her, looking flustered. One one side of him was a younger girl with brown hair and bright violet eyes. On the other side was herself, although several years younger. Euphemia smiled and stroked the picture fondly with her fingers. Those happier days felt so far away that it caused a great ache in her chest. But no more! No, this time it would be different. She would bring peace between the Japanese and the Empire, if only in that one section of the world. There she could be with Lelouch and Nunnally again.

You'll come, won't you, Lelouch? she thought silently. You'll make my dream real and then we can live together just like we did in this picture.

Nothing would make her happier. Euphemia returned the photo to her mantle and moved away, suddenly weary. Tomorrow was the day she would make this wish come true. She was sure of it.
