Slut, Slut, Slut

A coworker of mine has been wondering around the office for the last week or so uttering the above phrase in lieu of the traditional Ho, Ho, Ho... he's an odd guy.

Christmas is over and done with.  I know many will be glad to be free of all of the commercialism and all of that crap.  Personally, I enjoy the holidays, mostly because it's kind of a breather at work.  Most of the management types take plenty of time off and things relax a little, no one expects you to railroad through any major projects.  And I get a couple of nice long weekends and a couple of free lunches usually.  I dunno, I guess that's not what's intended but I get to not hate my job for a month or so... who can blame me for enjoying it?

Actually it really didn't feel very much like Christmas this year.  Juliana and a group of her family members and myself had just returned from four days in Las Vegas the previous Wednesday.  There had been talk of "not spending much" on gifts this year because everybody had been out a lot for the trip, but I think everybody threw that out the window, and we had too.  We got plenty of loot as did everyone else but the restriction felt kind of like a damper to the holiday cheer even if we didn't follow it.

For my part my favorite part of the season is picking out presents for others.  I like to think I'm a thoughtful gift giver and I enjoy the pleasure folks get from my givings.  I am most unlike my mother in this fashion.  I did most of my own gift shopping for her ,otherwise she just shops from a list and complains about how crowded everything is, or how hot all of the stores are.  I bought several things this year and more or less just presented her with a bill for the amount of those goods.  She can't stand shopping and acts as though she couldn't think of anything on her own to save her.  My dad on the other hand always manages to buy me a few small gifts that I never would have thought to ask for, or didn't know existed and they're perfectly suited to me.  Mom should take a lesson.

Anyway, with Christmas over it's just a few short days before the office gets back to normal.  There are so few people here now that I'm planning on skipping out early.  They'll close the facility down early on Monday, we're off Tuesday and then everybody will be back and demanding crap on Wednesday.  Ho-hum(bug).

Las Vegas pictures to come....
