The light but devastating rain finally stopped earlier today. Most fires have been put out or at least controlled. Areas known to be free of fire are being doused thoroughly in water. The air-rail is working once again, although many businesses remain closed as they deal with damage.
The government has announced that a team of engineers and elementalists is working on purifying the waters of Izanagi's Mirror. They should be done by the morning, but until then, citizens are advised to use as little water as possible, as the city's non-oil-contaminated supplies are running low.
However, the trouble is not over.
Virtually the entirety of the Crux's population of nearly 20,000 enslaved Salamandry were deployed to stop the fires. They are the reason the city is still largely intact. But this came with a price. Over half of the Salamandry slaves are now exhausted to the point of collapse--and their control of their mindplagues is utterly frayed. For some of them, this has little bearing on anyone but themselves.
For others, it could be disaster.
All enslaved Salamandry are being kept quarantined within their respective Force Districts; free Salamandry are not being allowed out of Yaga's Belly. But some effects are still leaking out into the populace at large.
Over the course of the weekend, various odd psychic effects will ripple through the Crux. Among them: bizarre, frightening mirages and illusions; storms of bewildering emotions; eddies of psychosis spinning like small tornadoes, temporarily deranging anyone caught in their path; instances of people's memories and thoughts being swapped and scrambled with those of bystanders; and many other similar, disruptive effects.
Players are free to play with this or ignore it as they prefer.
