Imprisonment is draining him. Jack needs to trust someone. He wants it to be Juliet, but he has to be certain of her loyalties first.

Once Jack know that Ben is keeping Juliet on the island against her will, he knows he wants needs her on his side.

For Juliet, it started with that first glimpse of him on the closed circuit tv. He might have been the most handsome man she had ever seen, but it wasn't until she read through his file that she began to feel something deeper for him. He had known suffering and loss and betrayal, things she was all too familiar with. And Ben was going to use him, much in the same way that he has used her. She tries to keep her feelings in, but each day it gets harder and harder. When Jack gently places aloe on her burn and promises her they'll leave - together - she knows she can't deny it anymore. She has fallen in love with him.

Jack & Juliet have gotten away from Ben and Jack is more determined than ever to keep his promise to get everyone off the island.

Life off the island is not what Jack thought it would be. Why has everything gone so wrong? Why couldn't he save everyone? Why couldn't he save Juliet?

The guilt and the pain are overwhelming. Jack becomes desperate to shut it out; to maintain the lies he tells to the world and himself. But most of, he wants to stop feeling.

The title is a result of my obsession with the 'together' scene from 3x09. This is the scene that got me shipping Jack & Juliet and its still my favorite.
I couldn't get over the reaction his simple, gentle touch had on her. It moved her so deeply (and me, too).
