LibraryThing, why are you so strange...?

Posting with Xjournal, so I promise I'm not reading.

I'm nearly done cataloging my library back into LibraryThing. Just "writing" books and cookbooks left. I am also the proud user of the tag "love me some Chabon!" (I might need more Chabon so I can use it with the frequency it deserves.)

Why is LibraryThing so concerned about people having multiple copies of the same work?

At present, yes, I have seven copies of The Scarlet Pimpernel, you got a problem with that?

LibraryThing insists on lumping my audiobooks and my vocal selections in with the novel saying they're all the same.

On the same note, when I have separate books in a series, like the various volumes of Australian Dark Fantasy and Horror and the chapbooks I've collected from various trips to SiWC, LibraryThing insists they are only different editions of one "work" and then bugs me that I have "duplicates".

Surely there should be a user-setting to keep "duplicate" reminders to duplicates of the same ISBN...
