*nod* It's voluntary, and he told them he was going to do it the last time he was there. There's just sort of a communication barrier - people outside the army, or hell, even people in the army unless they're actually in a Reine squad, just don't really GET IT. Decomissioned is yay and happy and you're coming home! and he can't really explain to them until they can actually see it what it means in terms of results on him personally.

d'aaaw, poor Kalmenka. He's lucky his brain's not coming out his ears. I don't even want to KNOW how they do the locks on him.

His brain probably was coming out his ear for awhile, or at least it felt like it. =P Thankfully the standard practice is to keep them hopped up on drugs through the worst of it so his memory of it is sort of hazy. v_v It's a fun little bit of conditioning they do - sort of the equivalent of using electroshock on someone every time they try to think about doing something, and with the fun addition of basically wiring his own power in to deliver the shock.

Gah. Sounds like the sort of thing that gives a man nightmares and neuroses every now and then for the rest of his life. GOOD GOING. -_-

Just a wee bit of PTSD on certain subjects. [holds up thumb and forefinger] Just a BIT. v_v

(To which he says yeah, but then he GETS the rest of his life to do whatever he wants, which includes shacking up with a homebuilt little family of strays doing their own damned thing and it's nobody else's business and for that he's okay with a little bit of neuroses on occasion.)

I liked this, very well done. I liked how you let the reader know little by little what was going on. Made me wonder what Kalmenka's problem was and want to find out more. Good luck!

Thank you for reading! I'm glad you liked it. I was hoping it didn't leave off too abruptly, I just ran out of time to flesh it out any more. ^_^

It all seems so realistic. I am impressed with the cadence here... the dialogue, the way the story unfolds makes for such a clear picture of these people. Well written. Best of luck this week.

Thank you! That means a lot; realism is something I always work for, even if the world is completely made up. Thank you for reading!

As always, you've woven a beautiful scene, something that feels solid and real and just sucks a reader right in. I'm happily green with envy, luv! ^_~

Thank you! ^__^ I think I need to expand on it later - the ending got a bit rushed. And the scene with Zsófia could have easily been twice as long! #^_^#
