Things I learned yesterday:
1) If you are going to buy the Original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD, and you're after the mythical theatrical versions (i.e. not the Special Editions) make sure you get the double-disc set.
altodescant and I made this mistake and now we have to eBay the Special Edition set we got. I was, however, highly amused that it took only a few minutes into the film for us to notice that something was off (the colors were too bright and vivid) and only fifteen minutes into the film for us to know without a doubt that we'd gotten the wrong ones (the dewbacks are a dead giveaway).
2) Having a Target and Best Buy is very dangerous for us. Granted, we did know this when we moved in. We wanted to replace our Star Wars DVD set with the real ones, the ones we meant to buy, and we ended up walking out with the three Star Wars DVDs, House Season 2 and The Lake House (which is a very cute movie). We also went to Target to find some canisters for flour and sugar for me, along with salad tongs (I still can't find my cookbook holder thing! Anybody know where I could find it?), and we ended up walking out with all of those and the Apples to Apples game, so all of you will have to come over and play and make our purchase worthwhile. :o)
3) Refurbished Dells are made of awesome. I ordered a new tower (since my monitor works just fine) off of the Dell Outlet. It kicks the crap out of my current system, and it was only $300 with shipping, plus a one year warranty. Upgrading or buying a new laptop was just out of my capabilities at this point in time and is likely to be that way for awhile, so I decided to get a refurbished tower as cheaply as possible and I finally found one last night, so I ordered it and it should be here on Friday. I'm looking forward to actually have a functional desktop that can run more than one program at a time.
And those are my adventures in shopping for the day! :o)
