So I have decided the friends only idea, after a year and a half, is finished.
I'm kind of tired of this whole "I'm hiding from the world because I'm afraid to have opinions" thing, so here I am, back in public-LJ-land. I'll still probably post personal entries friends-locked here every once in awhile, but since I really don't have much reason to be emo anymore and my life is supremely not interesting, I don't really see the point in hiding any of it.
So, I'm back. Woot.
In other news,
altodescant and I have officially turned into consumer whores, because we now own not one, but two pieces of IKEA furniture (a coffee table and an office chair for me, respectively). We originally intended to buy the
LACK table, but alas, they were oversold. So, we upgraded to the
BENNO table, which honestly, I think looks nicer than the other one. It only took us a half hour to build, and it was immediately put into
use as a coaster. The chair, unfortunately, had a tear in it from a damaged box, so we had to exchange it today and then came home and built it too. Unfortunately, we do not have pictures of that.
We also went and took a look at a new apartment up closer to where I work yesterday, and we both really liked it, so today we went back and put in an application for residency. All I have to say is, if we end up moving there, we are both in. So. Much. Trouble.
There is a Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, Target, Meijer, and a Panera all within WALKING distance of the apartment complex!!1!one!
Ahem.
Ah, well. I'm sure neither of us will mind so much, even if our paychecks do.
Work is going well, and will be even better when I don't have to battle rush hour traffic during an hour commute. Assuming we pass the credit and background checks, our new lease starts on Sept. 1, and the new place is only 10 minutes from work for me. Unfortunately this means that
altodescant gets the joy of the hour-long commute, but hopefully not for long as he's looking for a new job up near Rochester as well.
Now if I could just find a way to get benefits out of my job, then my life would be complete. :o)
