"Mama, what happened to our house?" Rachel asked as she attempted to walk into the dining room, only to be held back by her mom's hand.
"Baby, don't go in there. Broken glass and wood is all over. You could get hurt."
"Mommy, what happened?" She asked once more.
Cuddy sighed. How was she supposed to explain this to her little girl? How would she basically tell her that her pirate playmate had crashed his car through their house. Just a few days ago he was being so kind and playful with her and then he did this. Rachel would never trust a male figure again. Rachel had called him her friend, and after today she would never see him that way.
"Honey, House did this."
Rachel scrunched her face in confusion.
"Why House do that?"
Cuddy smiled sadly at her baby girl. She didn't know why House had done this. She knew he was an ass, jerk, selfish prick, but never a homicidal maniac. They had known each other for over twenty-five years and she never thought he would intentionally try to injure or kill her.
"He's sick in his head. What he did was wrong. Your mommy, aunt Julia, uncle Bill, and your aunt's friend could have been very hurt..."
Rachel looked scared as the thought hit her hard.
"He did bad. He tried to hurt you, mommy?"
Cuddy wished she could lie and say it was all an accident but she couldn't this time. He made a choice. Cuddy knew that Rachel needed protecting and letting her continue to view House as a 'friend' would only make things worse.
"Yes, he tried to hurt me."
Rachel hugged her mother close and let out a little cry. Cuddy gently rubbed her back and then proceeded to pick her up. Walking into Rachel's bedroom, she sat down in the rocking chair.
"Let it out, baby. Mommy's okay. Everyone is okay now. I'll never let him hurt us again."
Rachel pulled away from her mother's chest and looked up with teary eyes.
"I don't like him no more. Friends don't hurt their friends' mommy."
Cuddy leaned down to kiss Rachel's wet cheek and pulled her close once more.
"Everything will work out. For now, we'll be staying with aunt Julia until the house is fixed. But don't worry we won't be dealing with him anymore. I'll never let him hurt you."
Rachel shook her head in agreement.
"I love you mama."
"I love you too, baby girl."
