Another Sleepy Valley Thursday

Was all excited this morning when the sun showed his face, the husband brought up the trailer so we could load leaves and I went out to uncover the hostas. Unfortunately the sun didn't last long and it also wasn't long until my gloves were wet and my hands frozen. Then the husband came to tell me he had broken the leaf sucker implement and we would have to load the leaves by hand, and rather shortly thereafter the rain came. At least we got a start on it. All the hostas that are up are now free of the weight of all those wet leaves and though still piled hither and yon, at least it's a beginning

Together we made a chocolate cake with chocolate icing and I cooked the last spinach that we picked, waiting on the potatoes to finish cooking and then we can eat them with the smothered steak. Absolutely on the mend, but worn out already.

Started a new book "The City of Women" by David R. Gillham about the women in Berlin left alone while their husbands were fighting in the war. So far, it's not bad. I have picked up and put down a large number of books over the last week so I hope this one is a keeper.

I can't say enough about how grateful I am to have at least some of my health back. So it goes, "You don't miss your water till your well runs dry." I didn't realize how good I did feel until I felt so bad.

More rain tomorrow, but maybe by Saturday there will be sun again and the leaves can be loaded up and hauled away.

Until then I guess I'll read.

hostas, rain, leaves, city of women, wwii
