Although they didn't get started till after 10 the crew made a vast amount of progress yesterday. All old cabinets ripped out and gone. Countertops off and delivered to Jerome who wanted them for one of his projects. Sub floor under sink repaired. And walls almost painted with first coat. A bonus in that area was they painted the dining area too, a pleasant surprise.
Surprisingly the area behind and under the 50 yr old handmade cabinets contained no skeletons, old coins or even dead mice. I did enjoy seeing the original linoleum which was pink and blue with silver sparkles.
Today's schedule is more painting. Excited to see how the deep blue looks on the cabinets under the bar. And just maybe they will begin on the floor which is cork. I like the way it looks in the package, hope I maintain that attitude once it's down.
I spent part of the day yesterday in the back bedroom with the dog and cats as the demolition was quite noisy. I've been rather anxious about this whole thing for a number of reasons, but am finding it to be less stressful now that it's begun. Never in a million years did I dream we would actually fix up the kitchen as my husband has been opposed to putting anymore money into this old house, but it's real, it's happening. Until yesterday it was still a dream.
Many thanks to the Universe for this gift. Heck I might even like cooking again.
