"Rose? Rose?"

Rose looked blearily up at the faces above her. "What?" She blinked, but they didn't get any clearer. This likely had something to do with the fact that she wasn't actually wearing her glasses.

"Rose, honey, you need to step away from the bubble blower." She thought the voice belonged to Lauri, but she couldn't be sure.

She shook her head and hugged the nozzle closer to her chest. "Nuh uh."

Someone plopped down on the floor next to her. With a lot of squinting, she could see well enough that she thought it might be Marina. "Rose."

"Hm?"

"I know you're upset, but this isn't helping anything."

Rose took another puff from the bubble blower. "The cowplant ate them all!" She glared in Cait's direction. At least, the direction that she thought Cait was in. No one else was that short, right? ...If that person even was short. Angles were kind of hard when she was on the ground and not wearing glasses and was kind of (okay, more than kind of) high from the bubble blower. "Stupid Apocaplant."

"Yeah," Lily said, sitting down on Rose's other side, "stupid Apocaplant."

"It's just, I had all these plans, and everything was going to be perfect..." Rose gestured expansively, hitting someone in the legs with the bubble blower nozzle (she wasn't sure who). "Oops, sorry," she said. Then she giggled.

"I know, it was going to be great," Marina said. She took the nozzle from Rose and took her hand. "Come on, you'll feel better in the morning."

"No, no, I feel good now!" Rose tried to stand up but stumbled and almost fell on Lily, giggling even more.

Lark, who was standing behind her (she must've been the one Rose had hit, oops), shook her head. "You're acting like you do when you're drunk. Which may actually be better than before, so go for it." She reached a hand down and with Marina and Lily's help, got Rose to stand up.

"Come on, bed," Lily said, as they led Rose to her bedroom to sleep off the high.

* * *

When Rose woke the next morning, she opened her eyes and immediately closed them, groaning. The room was spinning. She lay in bed for a while until her bladder made itself known. Then she managed to force herself out of bed and into the bathroom, though the floor felt like she was on a boat the whole walk there.

Afterwards, she staggered back to the bed and collapsed, curling up with her pillow.

She hadn't managed to fall back asleep when the door opened. "Oh good, you're up," Marina said.

"Nooooooooo, not up. Not up at all." She pulled the pillow over her face.

Marina took the pillow away and tossed it across the room, easily evading Rose's grab for it. "Cait made you tea. It'll help."

Rose eyed the mug like it might be poisonous. "That had better be sweet enough."

"Yes, Cait knows you like your tea to have enough sugar to cause diabetes." She put the mug on the night table, then helped Rose sit up. Then she gave her the mug.

Rose sipped at the tea, which was actually sweet enough. And light enough. And milky enough. If Cait was trying to apologize for causing the whole mess with Apocaplant, she was actually doing a half decent job.

When she was done, she groped for her glasses, which someone had put on the night table when she'd gone to bed, and put them on. Then she put her face in her hands. "I do not feel good."

"That's what happens when you sit on the bubble blower for almost twenty four hours," Lark said unsympathetically from the doorway.

"You know the way to avoid a bubble blower hangover?" Rose said, glaring at the others. "Don't get off the bubble blower."

Marina and Lark laughed. "Except for the part where you eventually need to eat and sleep, sure," Lark said.

Marina nudged Rose's shoulder. "Things looking any better in the morning?"

Rose shook her head. "Not really."

"Look on the bright side. Now that this legacy is dead, you can always start a new one."

At that, Rose finally perked up. "Ooh, maybe if I...hrm, that could work, let me see, I just need to get to my computer..." She quickly stood up and opened up her laptop, which was in a heap on the floor. "Aha! This will be better than ever!"

As she started typing madly, a manic smile on her face, Marina turned to Lark. "I think we may have created a monster."

Lark eyed Rose. "Yeah. We really did. Let's leave her alone and go get breakfast?"

"Sounds good to me."

They left the room, leaving Rose on her own, lost in thought and plans for something new.
