Well my Monday is off to a fine start. I've just returned home from having an oboe lesson with Anna and it went great as always. Its tough transitioning between the different projects that I have been working on, first there was the Vaughan Williams and the challenges that it brought: technique, memorization, technique! Once I learned it though, my daily practice routine consisted of drilling it over and over 3 hours a day. Now that that project is behind me, its hard to look at the Britten a completely different style, concept, and piece in general and learn how to effectively tackle it. I felt this week, that my practice had all been in vain and that no matter how much I practiced, that nothing was getting accomplished. However, when I played it for Anna tody she said that it had come pretty far this week and that I was probably just getting so caught up in it that I didn't even realize it. She always knows how to put things in perspective for me...
So I had a nice hummus wrap for lunch at the house and now I'm ready to relax for a little while before having to go make reeds in studio class. I'll let you know how the Monday finishes out! I have a lot to get done still!
