in here...life is beautiful

Well, well, well. I've been putting off updating because I have SO much to say. I'll put it under a cut so you don't hafta really read if if you don't want to.

Before I go on to Puerto Rico, I want to annoucne that I am the proud owner of Converse. Grey/pink (sorry Jenny. I know you hate grey/pink :-P). Hoorah!

Ok.

It got off to a bumpy start.

First, our flight did NOT have Walk the Line, or direcTV as promised. Ugh. It wasn't excruciating though.

Then, my dad's luggage is lost.

Then, we have our first experience getting VERY VERY lost in PR. We were stuck in a VERY VERY poor neighborhood with VERY VERY sketchy people. Stray cats, dogs, boarded homes, many police cars and NO WAY OUT. Dead ends everywhere. VERY VERY SCARY. But nice to see a less touristy side of San Juan. So we go to a random establishment (fortunately a police station) to get directions to our hotel, but the guy doesn't speak english. My parents won't let me talk to him (but I could have said everything we were trying to say in spanish). He speaks some crude english ("Go right 3 time. Stop at 5 light...."). FINALLY we make it to the hotel. It's nice.

Next day. Wake up and go get breakfast. Susannah and family, Philip (a very cute 7 yr old)and family, and...Susannah's second cousins! VERY hot 16 year old boy. Amazing 13 year old girl- basically the Joanna Yelen of California.

So we tour Old San Juan which is absoteluyl beautiful. Not to mention that it's about 85 degrees. And sunny. And colorful. Uhmazing.

We drive to the rainforest at about 4 (and get VERY VERY LOST.)

See, the thing about PR is that there are about no road signs on the highway.

2 hours later, we're there. It's an ecolodge- very cute. Our room is very homey and has two twins (! no sharing beds!) and a huge window with a humungous palm tree right outisde of it. The lodge is in the middle of the rainforest. legit 2 minutes away from an amazing waterfall. And homemade Creole style dinner that is sooooo good.

Next day we go into the rainforest with two tourguides. Undescribable. I'll post pictures later. We climb a mountain with no rope and go swimming at the top in the "Virgin Forest"- the forest that has been there since eternity that has never been cut down or had anything else planted in. One tourguide gets drunk and starts hitting on the girls (namely me...ew.) Allison (Susannah's cousin) saves my life on the way down by..uh, telling me how to get down (it was unclear how to. but it was quite scary).

Another night there- we get Matthew (the hot cousin) to talk. How exciting.

Next day we leave early and drive to Rincon. We stay at a super fancy resort (ew) and go swimming in the Carribean!! I have a minor crash at dinner. Susannah does too.

More swimming the next day, then onto Aguadilla. It's an uglier version of Rincon. We have dinner at the hotel restaurant (SO GOOD.) and go to bed at quarter of 9.

Then we wake up at 4:30 to make the plane and leave. Walk the Line/TV is working- WALK THE LINE IS AMAZING.

The end!

Pictures to come :)

If you read that entire thing...I'm very proud of you.

P.S. A sparkly shout out goes to Jen.
