[She tosses the device aside, and runs to Megumi's room - not mindful of any grace, any manners. She tosses the door open and looks for Megumi. She's strong, enduring the tight pressure in her chest. Because this is surely a wonderful thing for Megumi!]

Megumi-

[ She's already prepared to see her, but there's still some amount of regret. Because she knows, in the end, what her end might be, even if the time she might return to is a time where she'll still wait-- because at least now, she knows the truth about herself. And she's prepared to face it.

So she's quick to meet Natalia at the hallway where their rooms connect-- strange, to live so closely and never realise they had distance between them until the time came to part. The things they all took for granted until the time came for them to end. She's moving to her, and she takes it a step further.

Her arms go around Natalia's body almost immediately, burying her face in the side of her neck, just holding her tight, the moment she sees her. If there are a few people anchoring her to this City, Natalia is one of them. And the choked sob that escapes her says as much. ]

I'll miss you. I'll miss you so much!

[She's taken a little by surprise, but she holds Megumi just as tightly, just as desperately. Truthfully, she'd like for them to stay together, but she knows the meaning of reality, the importance of it, and despite the way she clings to her friend, Natalia knows she must, at some point, let go.]

I'll miss you as well, Megumi, we've been through so much together-

[Strength, strength- that's what she needs right now, and she steels herself as much as possible. She tries not to cry.]

I didn't think this day would ever come. It's so easy to take things for granted...

[Her voice falls, and for a moment she's only aware of Megumi - she knows this may very well be their last meeting]

[ She doesn't want it to be, and yet she knows. Is it crueller that she got to say goodbye, to see the way everyone's faces became pained? She'd never ever wanted to cause people pain from her actions, but she knows herself, knows how selfish she is, knows that all this time, all this love and affection she garnered was because she was selfish for them.

And especially for her. Especially for the young woman she's hurting more by calling her to her, instead of being braver and letting her go, letting her have quick closure than this drawn out one. Her fingers tighten in the fabric of her clothing, trying her best to not shake. ]

I won't forget you. I don't care what they do, I won't. They can't take your memory from me, Natalia. So don't. Don't forget me as well.

[ She draws back, slowly, eyes wet and yet, determined. ]

Promise me.

I promise, in the name of Kimlasca-

[No, no, that isn't right, even as she says it. Seeing Megumi so close, on the edge of leaving, Natalia herself almost wavers, almost tears up.

She shakes her head, offers a sad smile, intending to comfort. She holds her pinky out-]

I promise that I shall never forget you as well, Megumi. You are far too dear to me.

[ The gesture is cute-- so much that for a moment, between seeing the way Natalia's resolve, so forcibly steady, beginning to shake, she's torn between wanting to beg to stay, and to pull her back and promise her she won't go.

But the promises would mean nothing if she did, because this isn't something she can control. And at her action, she only lifts her hand, and links her pinky with hers, firmly. ]

If I break that promise, may I have to drink a thousand needles.

[ A weak laugh-- she doesn't even notice the tears beginning to spill down the corners of her eyes ]

[Natalia almost takes that seriously as her pinky hooks around Megumi's, firm and determined. Her horrified expression turns into a smile, her smile - upon seeing Megumi cry - becoming strained. No matter how terrible the City was to the both of them, how awful it was to be kept in captivity away from family, the people she'd met made the stay worth it. And after years with Megumi, it certainly feels like losing one of her best friends.]

Don't be silly, Megumi, I have full confidence that you'll-

[A sniff, and she begins to cry, too.]

-I'm so very, very happy to have met you, Megumi. Despite the City, I don't regret a single moment.

[ She took it seriously, Megumi knows she did, and that makes her want to laugh even though her shoulders are beginning to tremble and her breaths are becoming shaky every so often. All these years, no matter where they came from, they spent their time here, in this City, and that's what makes it so important, as much as the time they spent back home.

She releases Natalia's hand, but moves her own to her shoulders. She moves her face close, until their foreheads touch, their noses brush, and she can just hold her like this, letting her cry, letting herself cry. ]

I'm so happy, too. You're one of the reasons I would never have left, if I had that choice.

[ She lets out a weak laugh. ]

Maybe... I'll get better enough at my magic to 'accidentally' end up in Auldrant. Wouldn't that be something!
