Made a difference

Jan 17, 2007 19:44

I'll begin with yesterday, as I had designated it "make a difference day"...

I got up early (for recent times) and had breakfast (good for me) then had a shower and got dressed super quickly. Then I tackled the flat. I hoovered throughout, cleared the lounge, dusted, folded and put away the washing, put on a new load and hung that up, then went on a rampage through my clothes and accessories, culling the things that I don't wear/won't wear. I managed to make a neat pile, took photographs and have posted some of them for sale on the Hair forum. If anyone is interested, I have the photos for some of it up here on photobucket:

Obviously there are no details about the items, so if you're interested in anything, please feel free to ask questions about sizes, brands, cost, postage etc and I'll get back to you asap.

So yesterday was quite an accomplished day :)

Yesterday:
Breakfast: Oat cereal with rasberries and yoghurt
Mid afternoon: Bread
Late afternoon: Pasta with olive oil and pesto
Dinner: Vegetable stew (sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, mushrooms)

Today:
Breakfast: Toast with marmite
Lunch: Sushi

Today I woke up to my phone ringing. I have an interview!!! It's for the Missing Pets Bureau taking inbound calls for their Petback Identification Scheme. My interview is for next Tuesday, the day after my exam.. so it's going to be an eventful week I hope. I felt so much better just at the idea of things moving forward that I was in a good mood all day. This was helped by having a day off with Alex, in which we went to Yo!Sushi (it's half price heaven week) as a sort of late anniversary celebration. I tried some different things this time such as squid salad, tuna sashimi, fresh tofu in sesame marinade with seaweed, lemon and dill salmon and pumpkin korroke. My verdict was mixed - I loved the texture of the squid but it was in a spicy marinade that was a bit too hot for me, the tofu was nice but I didn't like the seaweed, the salmon was a lovely texture but a little too lemon-y but.. the tuna sashimi and the pumpkin korroke were DIVINE. That's two new winners right there to add to the list. I also had the customary salmon sashimi and katsu prawns ^_^ It was a bit strange to have to resist the chicken dishes, but hey, it's a small price to pay for perkiness.

After sushi we went for a coffee and a brownie, then went round to the leisure centre/swimming pool round the corner from the flat and signed up for a free week's trial. It starts Sunday :) I feel good about the changes I've made, it feels like I've woken up after a long sleep and the dusty cogs of my internal machine have slowly cranked back into action. It won't be long before I'm running smoothly again, I hope.

Now I'm off to jam a bit on my guitar (I've been good with the practice more resolution.. I can now play Tori Amos' "Precious Things", Snow Patrol's "Set the Fire to the Third Bar", Radiohead's "Karma Police", Dresden Doll's "My Alcoholic Friends" and Snow Patrols "Chasing Cars".. bit more work on them and I could be a copyright-infringing busker ;)

Then, when my fingers are too sore to play any more, I will make a snack and watch more of The Mighty Boosh! (I got Alex the box set for his birthday. Love it!)

work, diet, guitar, gym, sushi
