Ficwriting woes, and other stuff...
So. This is definitely the Semester from Hades for me; three intense courses (one of which is currently kicking me down and needs to be addressed) and a weekly seminar thing, plus caring for the lab's zebra finches (though I don't mind that--I love being with them). I'm just barely handling it, and I think it may be time to consider taking a hiatus--or at least a semi-hiatus--from writing as I have three full-length term papers that need done by May that I haven't started on. I'll still probably do the weekly Short Affair prompt, so there'd be one MFU drabble a week, but beyond that, I'll try to do one more update each of the DW/MFU crossover and the Early Days MFU series, and then stop any full-length chapters/oneshots after I post chapter one of the Metamorphosis sequel for Pat's birthday at the end of March. The hiatus would only last until I made it past my finals in May. I hope my readers will understand.
On a more positive note, the first round of the Papa Bear Awards are in for the Hogan's Heroes fandom, and both of the two oneshots I did last year, "Wax Wings" and "Divided Loyalties," were nominated for best short drama, as well as best character portrayals for Carter in the former and Marya in the latter. "Divided Loyalties" was also nominated for best quote, as well! Congrats to my fellow nominees and all the best for the voting round!

In other news, there's going to be a mini Nintendo Direct tomorrow regarding the Pokémon 20th Anniversary on Saturday. I'm admittedly curious as to what the announcement will be--we already know about the Pokémon Go app and the Generation I rerelease, so it seems strange to hold a Direct (that's supposedly only five minutes long) to rehash old news... Sadly, the Direct is literally right before class tomorrow; I'm going to try and watch it on my phone live if it really will be only five minutes; it that doesn't work out, I'll just catch it after class, but I'm really going to avoid spoilers because I always enjoy going into the Directs blind. I've been doing more of the gif challenge as the lead-up to Saturday; I already posted day one here, and my other entries so far are here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.
And, in addition to Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda also had their 30th Anniversary a few days ago! Surprisingly, there wasn't that much fanfare about it as there is for the Pokémon 20th buildup; I do wonder why... At any rate, to celebrate, I did a series of photosets comparing the parallels between The Legend of Zelda and The Man from UNCLE--here, here, here, here, and here.
