More pics! The last of the GrooveBarbers at Easter Expedition sets are
here,
here, and
here. There's
this pair of screencaps that I have absolutely no idea where or what they're from--it's clearly 1994 from Scott's hair, and Jeff is there, too. I think they are wearing their outfits from the Vocobeat photoshoot, but, other than that, I have absolutely no idea. And I have two Carmen gifsets
here and
here; I forget where the first one is from (I don't have access to my files on vacation, and I named the gifs after the ep for my own reference), but the other is "Might Takes Wright," with one of the few Informant appearances as they were phased out in S3. ...Although
i_heart_rocka found a song parody from S4 where all four of the guys dress up in trenchcoats and fedoras, and though I want to say it was Scott being the Informant in that parody, I know, deep down, he's not. Sigh. Still, it was very lovely to see him in that outfit again, along with the others!
So, in other news, while I'm here in India, I've had some great animal encounters--aside from the usual cats and monkeys, the highlight was definitely getting a pat on the head by a holy elephant. And I've rediscovered a show I used to love--Jackie Chan Adventures. A Kannada dub (one of the local languages) is currently airing and... well, the dub quality is something to be desired, but the translation is mostly faithful (the only thing that stands out is that they swapped Uncle's chi spell for a prayer for peace to banish the demons, which works when you remember that prayers are supposed to drive away demons in Hinduism) and it's subsequently a good way for me to learn more of the language, which I've been wanting to do. Hindi dubs, which air nationwide, are much higher in quality, case in point, the amazing quality of the DuckTales dub and also Pokémon--they have a guy voicing Ash, so he sounds older, but it really fits him! Of course, I will always love Veronica Taylor as Ash first and foremost, but the Hindi dub is a great alternative to seeing eps from the newer series in a language I somewhat understand, since I refused to watch the English eps after they fired the original VAs. But, anyway, yes--JCA. Awww, I'd nearly forgotten how much I loved Tohru and his friendship with Jade. I'm glad I found the eps once they'd started from S2; I really can't bring myself to watch pre-redemption Tohru in S1.
Aaaaaaand, I unintentionally stumbled face-first into another fandom--The Man from U.N.C.L.E. It started a few weeks ago on the flight over to India, where I saw that they had the reboot movie from earlier in 2015 available for viewing. I offered to watch it for Faye, who is a fan of the original series, and let her know how it was. But then I got curious about the original series, and after asking Faye about it and looking up a couple clips, I absolutely adored the original Illya and his friendship with Napoleon. ...And I've already been plunnied for an angsty fic idea. I will definitely do something with that idea once I see more eps.
