So. After making a recent Amazon order, they ended up prompting me if I wanted to try another Amazon Prime trial. I had a lot of fun last year with the free streaming when I took them up on it, so I did again... only to find out that pretty much all of the free streaming stuff that had been available last year is not longer free. Ugh. All the ( Read more... )

It was!

Indeed. Sigh.

Man, I wish it was the same Link being fine game to game. For a while, it actually was, and then things got convoluted and complicated and could give Doctor Who a run for its money. For what it's worth, Fallen Hero/LttP Link has been the Link to be in the most games and stay fine throughout and was recently canonically stated to have made it back to Hyrule after his shipwreck and stayed by Zelda's side for the rest of their days. As much as I'd love another game with that specific Link, it probably won't happen, as that confirmation of his happy ending seems to suggest that his story is done. Considering that he actually got his happy ending, I don't think I have the right to complain much seeing what happened to the more popular/fan-favorite Hero of Time.

Yesss, I must!

Ooh, I'd started it and got interrupted; I must continue with that!

Indeed. And buahaha, yes. He's later seen cooking for his comrades while they're on the run. He knows his priorities. (I'd watch out if you decide to look into this movie, though; D'artagnan Jr almost gets subjected to your most hated trope at one point, but is spared at the last minute)

I think it's $4.99 for just the 3DS or just the WiiU, and then there's a bundle version too? I'm not sure. It's not all that expensive, but I'm wondering if I should bother if I'm not really going to use him much.

Yeah. I wonder why they wanted to do that. That's good that your favorite Link has a happy ending, at least. Why is the other the fan favorite? They like the silly cartoony stuff?

Yes, you must! Simon is wonderful in it!

LOL. (Poor character. Ugh, I get sick of that trope.)

Yeah, it doesn't seem too worth it when you know you won't be using him much. Even $5 can be valuable.

Indeed. The Hero of Time is a fan favorite because he was the good-looking hero for the latter half of Ocarina of Time (the cartoony Link is from the timeline where he disappears after going back. Toon Link does have his fans, but he is not the Hero of Time. I know, it's complicated, but Zelda sends the Hero of Time back to the past as a kid again because he missed out on 7 years of his life while being kept in stasis for that long when he drew the Master Sword--in doing so, she created a paradox. The cartoony style one is called the Adult Timeline, as that is the Hyrule left behind when the adult Hero of Time vanished because he got sent back to the past to live out a normal life (the Child Timeline), and Majora's Mask and his eventual death happen during the natural course of his life in the Child Timeline. As for why they chose a cartoony art style for the Adult Timeline games, I haven't the foggiest, but that style does have its fans.

Ah, sounds great!

(*hugs*)

Indeed.

And he's more good-looking than the other Link?

Confusion, thy name is Time Travel.

Yesss.

**hugs back.**

Some would say so--

I can't see too much difference myself, but... I'm sure the popularity also is in the innovations of the Ocarina/Majora games themselves, the 3D-ness, etc, etc. Like... you *see* more of the Hero of Time when you're playing, as opposed to the top-down games of the Fallen Hero--graphics-wise, you're looking at 8 and 16 bit 2D sprites for Fallen Hero, whereas a full 64-bit (upped in the remakes) model for the Hero of Time.

Yeeep.

(fleeing for real now--see you!)

Ahh. I guess it's the Hero of Time one I usually see on graphics.

Those things probably are factors also, yeah. I can definitely see the appeal of seeing more of the character and having better graphics while playing.

Either him or the Hero of Twilight (the one who helped him cross over)--they do look a lot alike. To the extent that the Smash version of Link can be either one. He resembles the Twilight design most, but the fact that he has Navi the fairy with him and the presence of Shiek is in line with the Ocarina storyline. Of course, it's technically neither, as Smash is yet another timeline altogether.

**nodnod** Indeed, Ocarina left a lasting impression on a lot of people for its changes, which is why the Hero of Time is remembered so fondly. Of course, for as many people as you find who will praise Ocarina, you will also find those who praise Link to the Past.

Hmm, interesting. And yes, Smash being another timeline makes it pretty hard to pin down.

That's good that both have fans.
