More Monkee Musings, plus meme from Kim

So... I finally saw Head. It was... so very, very weird, just like 33 1/3 was. However, its saving grace was that it kept some of the friendship cuteness between the guys, which, at least, made *some* parts of it enjoyable for me.

I was highly amused by the scene of the guys in battle (Nesmith's Heroes!); Davy and Mike are looking out of their foxhole... well, Mike is, and Davy is trying, but can't because he's too short, so Micky gives him his helmet to stand on (and aww, Peter is worried about Micky because he doesn't have a helmet, so he go gets him one...). But what I found most hilarious about that scene is because that *totally* reminded me of the scene from Lord of the Rings at Helm's Deep (of all things!) where Gimli is complaining that he can't see over the barricade, and Legolas asks him if he either wants a commentary or a box to stand on. LOLOL, so if Davy is Gimli and Micky is Legolas... let's see, that would make Mike... Aragorn by default, and Peter would be... Faramir!

And oh, "Circle Sky." So *this* is where it came from originally, huh? Eh, I like the Justus version better...

That scene at the factory was creepy, especially how Davy was the only one aware of the horrible things going on in the background--you can tell the poor guy is highly unsettled by what he's seeing, especially when he sees the random guy being hauled out on a stretcher. And the other three are totally oblivious; it's like they're under some kind of spell...

The vacuum scene... utterly, utterly brain-breaking, but I couldn't help but "awww" over how Mike, Micky, and Peter got so worried when Davy got separated from them and went missing. Tch, I really am a sentimentalist for friendship cuteness, aren't I?

And oooh, Davy nervously traveling down that corridor in what seems like a haunted castle (now why does that sound so familiar...? Oh, right--Hagglethorn... XD)... so intense and plunny-inducing.

...Why in Heaven's name did they celebrate Mike's birthday, but not Davy's? And for all that, Mike didn't even want it.

The scene near the end where Davy leads the curb-stomp battle against the bad guys in the factory was *awesome*, though. Pity the Evil Giant Guy showed up and proceeded to curb-stomp *them* in retaliation. That Evil Giant Guy... too weird, not to mention creepy and sadistic. Why was he so preoccupied with tormenting those poor guys--and taking such delight in it (yeah, I know, I'm having Zero do the same thing in my Red Sky fic, but at least he has a reason for it...)? Plus, I don't care for the fact that he seems to win at the end (which is something I'd never let Zero do!). Actually, that whole ending is a total downer ending; I know I don't consider it part of the main canon, but I desperately want to write a blurb, at least, to make it a happier ending for the guys.

So, yeah, same deal as 33 1/3--still needed brain bleach, just not as much as I thought I would.

I have more Monkee musings in regards to some new music I got, but this post is already long, so I'll leave that for another time.

And now, and TV series meme from Kim...

Pick 5 of your favorite series (in no particular order) and answer the following questions about them:

1) Hogan's Heroes
2) The Monkees
3) Yu-Gi-Oh DM
4) Kolchak: the Night Stalker
5) Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

Who is your favorite character in #2 (Monkees)?
Mike and Davy; I've elaborated before as to why, but, basically, it was because of Davy's familiarity since I'd seen him years ago on Scooby-Doo, and Mike just being snarky and amusing. And, also, their interaction and friendship.

Who is your least favorite character in #1 (Hogan's Heroes)?
Walter Hobson, a oneshot character. I would've picked Hochstetter, but he's more of a love-to-hate villain.

What’s your favorite episode of #4 (Kolchak)?
Hmmmmmm. Probably "The Energy Eater" for that friendship squee between Carl and Tony at the end.

What is your favorite season of #5 (WITWICS)?
Season 2! So many awesome things happened in season 2! The tag match extravaganza in the season opener, the debuts of Kneemoi and Wonder Rat, the debut of the Chase, the appearances of the Mysterious Woman, the snowball chase, the 16-tons fiasco, my favorite song parody (because they were singing about my state)... so. much. love.

What’s your favorite relationship in #3 (YGO)?
Well, well... this is one of the rare fandoms that I do actually support romantic pairings for! I support two pairings here: Seto/Téa (and, by extension, their past/Egyptian selves, Seth/Téana) and Joey/Mai (Polar).
Platonically, I am intrigued by Yugi-tachi as a whole, and the Kaiba brothers. Lately, though, Faye has also gotten me intrigued in the platonic relationship between Duke and his unnamed store assistant, as well...

Who is your anti-relationship in #2 (Monkees)?
Davy/Fern. Anyone that could make Davy abandon his friends like that, even if it was just for one evening, is just wrong for him.

How long have you watched #1 (Hogan's Heroes)?
Since the sping of 2010, when I was initialyl forced into watching it. Luckily, there was so much friendship squee, I fell in love with it after seeing only three eps.

How did you become interested in #3 (YGO)?
Through sheer and utter coincidence. Yu-Gi-Oh, when it first aired, used to air right before Pokémon, which I was watching at the time. On one such occasion, I ended up catching YGO because I had nothing better to do; the ep I saw was part II of "The Dueling Monkey," and just... Bakura showing up and going Yami at the end... and sealing their spirits in the cards and yammering about the Shadow Realm... I was hooked. The next day, I watched the following ep, "Evil Spirit of the Ring," and there was no looking back after that.

Who is your favorite actor in #4 (Kolchak)?
Simon Oakland and Darren McGavin, the two lead actors. ♥

Which show do you prefer out of #1 (HH), 2 (Monkees) & 5 (WITWICS)?
... ... ... ... ... ...I can't... choose... just... one... I grew up with WITWICS, and fell in love with the other two...

Which show have you seen more episodes of, #1 (HH) or 3 (YGO)?
Hmm, well... I've seen both series in full, so with only 168 Hogan's Heroes eps to Yu-Gi-Oh's 224, the answer is YGO.

If you could be any character from #4 (Kolchak) who would you be?
I wouldn't want to be anyone...

How would you bring h/c your favorite character in #2 (Monkees)
...That aforementioned Red Sky fic? Reading what I have so far will give you a clue. XD Let's see, Mike getting snared by Audrey II's second cousin as Davy watches helplessly is just one of the many examples in that fic...

Give a random quote from #1 (HH)
Drunk-Newkirk: You pulled it off, LeBeau! You were smashing!
LeBeau: And that's how you feel, eh?

Would a #3 (YGO)/4 (Kolchak) crossover work?
Yes--and Faye has written it.

Overall, which show has a better cast, #3 (YGO) or 5 (WITWICS)?
...Cast of characters, or cast of actors? I think for the former, I probably would have to go with YGO since the characters were much more fleshed out (seeing as though WITWICS was a game show, it's to be expected that we'd only get a limited amount of characterization). For actors/cast, WITWICS wins, hands down.

Which has better music, #2 (Monkees) or 4 (Kolchak)?
...No contest here; obvious answer is obvious. XD.

squee, yu-gi-oh, where in the world is carmen sandiego, hogan's heroes, quiz, kolchak the night stalker, lord of the rings, monkees, musings, friendship cuteness
