The 30-Day Fandom Meme: The Monkees, Day 21, plus OUAT
...The Once Upon a Time finale. Four words, followed by four more: Oh. My. Dear. Gosh. That. Was. Absolutely. Incredible.
It had everything. LOL moments, tense moments, awesome moments, yell-at-the-screen moments, tearjerking moments, plus something that I had predicted a long time ago partially came true; I'll elaborate on that tomorrow since I know some on my flist haven't seen it yet.
Still quite a few unanswered questions, though. Guess we should've expected that. But, at any rate, enough to tide me over until fall. Well played, Writers. Well played indeed.
And now, Day 21 of the 30-Day Fandom Meme (Monkees TV-verse): A Heart Warming Moment
Aside from Mike's speech in the "Devil and Peter Tork" episode (which probably would take the prize, except that I already used it for the "Favorite Tense Moment" question a while back), the shining heartwarming moment would have to be the entire second half of "Success Story." By this point in time, Grandpa Jones has realized that Davy had been trying to pass as a success and failed miserably, and has furiously demanded that Davy is to return to England with him, and all four Monkees are absolutely crushed. Mike argues with Grandpa Jones, saying that he's only thinking about himself, that he misses Davy and just wants an excuse to get him to come back to England, but Grandpa Jones isn't listening.
Then comes the goodbye scene. Micky tries to crack a joke, but he's so obviously torn up. Peter gives Davy a parachute (that is just... *so* Peter), and Davy and Mike can't even find the right words to say to each other. After Davy leaves with his grandfather, Mike is the first one to suggest that they are going to stop him from going. Cue the insane gambit that doesn't quite work out, but does make Grandpa Jones realize how far the others would go for Davy and decides to let him stay, so happy endings all around! Oh, and there's one more blink-and-you'll-miss-it friendship squee moment between Mike and Davy at the end--when Grandpa Jones says Davy can go back and Davy walks back over to the guys, Mike has his hand on Davy's shoulder and looks back at Grandpa Jones as if to say "He's sticking with us, and don't you forget it!" (Mike actually had both hands on Davy's shoulders at one point, but that pic caught it with just the one XD;).
