Day 7 of the 30-Day Fandom Meme (Monkees TV-verse): Favorite tense moment
Definitely, without a doubt, Peter's trial in "The Devil and Peter Tork" ep in season 2. The entire ep is surprisingly dark when compared to the rest of the series, but they did an excellent job on it, and it definitely is the most intense ep. Peter (with the help of the other three Monkees, of course) is fighting for his mortal soul, which Mr. Zero, the Devil, is determined to claim. But the most tense moment has to be when Mr. Zero allegedly takes away the musical talent he had given Peter to play the harp that started all this (Peter had unwittingly signed his soul over to Zero for the ability to play the harp--hadn't read the contract before signing it...), and dares him to play it, as Mike had just given a big speech stating that Zero had never given Peter the talent, and that it was in him all along. The entire room is in utter silence, waiting to see whether or not Peter actually can play the harp... and then he plays, poignantly enough, "I Wanna Be Free." The entire scene was spectacularly done.
