And what does your pen name mean?
It's based off of something from my original work.
Any alternate nicknames or pen names?
Not really; I'm only rose_of_pollux on the journals because the whole thing wouldn't fit. LOL.
What fandom(s) do you write for currently?
Main fandoms are Hogan's Heroes and Kolchak: the Night Stalker; other fandoms include Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, West Side Story, and the game-verse of Pokémon (I used to write for the anime-verse, but lost my inspiration for that...). Other fandoms that I have written for and hope to someday get back to include Yu-Gi-Oh DM and The Phantom of the Opera.
And what pairings do you write for it?
In those fandoms? None, really, other than Raoul/Christine. I've also dabbled with Seto/Téa, but that's it...
Why?
Because I'm the ultimate anti-romantic. There isn't enough focus on platonic friendships--especially in fandom.
What are some current projects of yours?
"A Face in the Water" for Kolchak, about siren-mermaids hybrids in Lake Michigan, and my FireRed Nuzlocke for Pokémon. For Hogan's Heroes, I'm planning on starting the sequel to a supernatural fic I wrote some time ago that was very Indiana Jones inspired.
Do you ever think your OTP will reach a happy ending?
My OTP is Raoul/Christine. In their *true* canon, they have reached their happy ending, but the fandom is so obsessed with Erik/Christine, they go out of their way to ruin them.
If you ever had to kill one of them off, who would you choose and why?
...Are you kidding me!? The fandom does plenty of that--even Lloyd Webber himself...
Will your OTP ever have kids?
In my timeline, absolutely. Two daughters. And one of them eventually becomes Louis LeBeau's mother.
What do you see them doing post-canon?
Well, I see them traveling the world before eventually settling down in Paris, watching their daughters grow up and spending time with their eventual grandchildren. I expect Christine would eventually go back to singing before she would retire.
If a character has multiple 'appearances', which one(s) do you use in fic?
I usually use my favorite media appearance of them, or a combination of their appearances. For Phantom, for instance, I use elements from both the original Leroux novel and the 1986 musical, but do not consider the awful sequel canon in any way. For Kolchak, I take most elements from the original movies and TV show and a few things from the Moonstone continuity, but do not consider the 2005 revival series canon in any way. And so on...
How do characters sound in your head?
As Faye said, like they're supposed to. When there's only one actor to ever portray a character, it's pretty easy; for instance, in my Hogan's Heroes fics, LeBeau and Newkirk are based on Robert Clary and Richard Dawson. And when there's more than one actor to portray a character, I will go with my favorite portrayal; my Carl Kolchak and Tony Vincenzo are based 100% off of Darren McGavin and Simon Oakland, and Raoul and Erik are based 100% off of Steve Barton and Michael Crawford. Rarely, though, I might base a character off of more than one portrayal; my portrayal of Christine is pretty much one part Sarah Brightman and one part Dale Kristen, and the voice switches between the two of them (I'd say she's 60% Dale and 40% Sarah).
Sometimes, I might mix-and-match. For the "Wild Wild West Side Story" idea I'm planning, involving Lt. Schrank's dream where he's an Old West sheriff in a town where Riff and Bernardo are still alive as rival ranchers, Schrank will be based off of Simon Oakland, of course, but ever since I found out that Steve Barton once played Riff in a European production of West Side Story, ten to one, I'll be writing for Riff with his voice in mind.
Have you ever written/wanted to write crackfic (e.g. singing in a karaoke bar) for your fandoms?
No. I will write humor fics on rare occasions, but never mindless fics like a karaoke bar fic.
