Well, today was absolutely unproductive, writing-wise. Actually, the last week has been like that. First it was because I was just plain tired, and these past couple days was because I was skimming around TVTropes (don't ask me why; I couldn't tell you...).
And today, I didn't feel like doing anything because of the miserable heat wave (it hit the mid-90s Fahrenheit today, and tomorrow is promising to be worse--triple digits.... **headdesk**). And even if I can deal with the heat wave tomorrow, I'll probably be distracted by two more Kolchak books, which I will hopefully be getting tomorrow (knock on wood, it's looking like it, so that's good).
And I've been distracted by more TV shows, too; in addition to the eps I saw this morning, I ended up watching another show with Simon Oakland--an ep of Ironside. The ep I saw was pretty much like an episode of Monk--Simon's character has killed someone, and the ep is spent trying to prove that "he's the guy," as Adrian would put it. Simon's character was incredibly nasty--killing the victim, and then shedding crocodile tears. But he did seem to have an attack of conscience towards the end, which was very satisfying to see. And, after that, I ended up watching a couple eps of classic Indigo League Pokémon--specifically Brock's entry ep, and the one right after it with the Clefairy colony and the Moon Stone. Holy nostalgia, Batman (I was pleased to see that they kept the song at the end of each ep--kudos, Boomerang)! Brock was pretty hardcore in his first appearance (and LOL, he's so hardcore that Eric Stuart sounds like he's using his Seto Kaiba voice for him!), but looking back at the way his personality is for the rest of the series, I think he was trying to put on a mask--think about it: he's usually the first gym leader that new trainers face, so it's pretty much his job to warn said new trainers that the kid gloves have to come off. Outside of the gym, though, we see his warm and friendly personality (and he doesn't sound like Seto anymore). Hmm. I really like this early characterization of Brock--he was less girl-crazy in the early eps, and even when it started being a running gag, he still kept a hold on his intelligence. Sigh...
...But, seriously, I need to get that ficlit for
helpthesouth typed; it's not like it's not even written--I *have* written it... by hand. I need to type it up and post it. And I need to reawaken the sleeping Kolchak multichapter fic, too.
Well, here's hoping I actually get some writing done tomorrow....
