Thanks to
insaneladybug, I am now a fan of Kolchak: the Night Stalker original TV series. It's about a reporter named Carl Kolchak who ends up following stories that concern bizarre, supernatural happenings. And the other interesting character is Kolchak's editor, Tony Vincenzo, who seemingly gets exasperated with Kolchak's odd stories, but, nonetheless, always bails him out of trouble. I've only seen one episode so far, but I've been reading Ladybug's fic for it, and it's awesome. This is also how I got into Final Fantasy VII--she wrote fic that I just adored, even though I've never actually played the game or any of its compilation (though I have seen Advent Children). XD As of now, I'm a casual fan of Kolchak, but, after I've seen enough eps, I might be inspired to write a blurb or two somewhere down the line like I've done for FFVII.
Also, my season 1 Be the Creature set has arrived! Yes! So I've cleared a whole bunch of eps from the DVR, which is good, because there was pretty much zero space left. XD; Season 2, alas, was never released. I don't know why, but, eh--I've got most of them on my DVR, and I just need to save the orangutan ep the next time they show it, which should be next week.
And... here is the question for Day 7 of the 30-day meme: Favorite tense moment
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego: Hmm... Honestly, I think the only tense moments here are whenever a contestant *just* manages to win the final round and catch Carmen with seconds to spare--bonus points if the map is not North America, which definitely was the easiest of the maps.
Monk: The tetracycline scene in "Mr. Monk Goes to the Hospital." That is all.
Get Smart: Probably the climax of "Someone Down Here Hates Me." Well, actually, most of it is pretty intense--Siegfried has put a bounty on Max, and Max is concerned that it won't be just KAOS agents after him. After several near misses, Max heads to
someone whom he thinks can help, but the guy turns out to be a double-agent, who soon has him in his clutches...
Kratts' Creatures/Be the Creature/Wild Kratts: Oh, goodness, there are tons of tense moments in pretty much all of the Kratts' series and I really can't pick my favorite. Let's see, there was Martin's near-drowning in the dolphin ep of Kratts' Creatures (that actually scared me the first time I saw it as a kid...)... Chris getting surrounded by crocodiles in the climax of the final Kratts' Creatures ep, leading to an epic rescue courtesy of Martin and a hot-air balloon... the rhino ep of Wild Kratts where Chris gets captured by Zach who makes a doppelganger of him to trick Martin into staying put so that Zach can send a whole herd of rhinos to demolish the Tortuga ship while Martin and the techies are still in it--and force Chris to watch. Yeah, take your pick. XD
And once you've selected from those, keep in mind that those are all scripted/acted/played for drama. And then watch the intense moments in Be the Creature, which, unlike Kratts' Creatures and Wild Kratts, are completely raw and real--the brothers getting chased up a tree by a Komodo dragon, Chris getting attacked by a great white shark while in a shark cage (Martin's quote seals it: "If that cage hadn't been there, she would've ripped your face off..."), and, of course, all the agony that Martin goes through in the kangaroo ep... Yes, there is a lot.
