Actually, that was a typo, it's a 95. And, as far as I know, the latest version only works on 2000 or better, and they make you upgrade. So.

they dont MAKE you update... they just give you the option. although i suppose you cant download the latest version if its not compatible. you could google msn messenger 4.0 or something maybe. my dads laptop has an ancient version of it, cuz hes not allowed to download stuff onto it anymore.
