One week down

So the first week of classes is over (for me at least, no classes on Friday, booyah!). This semester seems like it's going to be fun. If you don't count Capstone Proposal (which I don't) I'm only taking 4 classes, so that should make my life a little bit easier, especially considering I'm taking two Pat Anderson courses this semester (he likes to make us read). Painting, so far, is a lot of fun, though I can see it being a ridiculous amount of work in the near future. This weekend I have to finish two projects with shape and color, as well as do 5 more sketches by Thursday (not so bad, but it has to be in liquid medium, so it takes some time to dry). This class has made me realize how much I have missed taking art classes. It really makes me wish that I had had enough room in my schedule to have a Studio Art minor, but with a Writing minor plus the Honors program, that just wasn't possible. Of course, if I did have a Studio Art minor, I would be so far beyond broke it would cease to be humorous.

Poetry class seems like it will be more exciting than I thought. It's not that I hate writing poetry, I actually really like it, but I've never been as confident with my poetry as I am with my prose. Hopefully concentrating on it over the next few months will help it improve. Also, one of the final things Ewa (the professor) is having us do is research a literary magazine, and try to get published in it. If that does happen, expect me to scream and yell and dance. Even if it's poetry, and not one of my stories, I'll still have my foot (or at least a toe) in the door.

I think my body's finally adjusting to waking up at a regular time and sleeping in a new place... though I keep zonking out by 11, which is lame since I don't have any early classes so I can afford to stay up later. Hopefully that will go away once I stop fucking waking up at 5 am for no reason.

The Rooke apartment is really awesome. It's so great to be able to sit out in the little living room without the awkwardness of people I don't talk to/even know walking through. It can get kind of loud at night (woo, Thirsty Thursday -_-) but once you go into the bedrooms, which are towards the back, you can't hear anything. Also, having a full-sized refrigerator and an oven to ourselves is Win.

Well, I think that's it for now. I'll try to update more regularly so my posts aren't so huge.

collge, sleep?, apartment, writing
