Have I annoyed enough of you with this yet? lol

Day 08 - Most overrated book

I can usually remember how I acquired a book, but the only memory I have attached to today's choice is reading it during my high school best friend's 18th birthday weekend getaway. We're hardcore, yo. I have a clear image of spending four hours stretched out reading it while on a tartan couch while hs bff and another friend did their homework on another. I was super awesome and did my homework on the ride up. tbh I'm a bit leery of posting this, as it centers around a sensitive subject matter, but you're supposed to be honest with this meme, so here we go. My choice for most overrated book goes to The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.

I heard people talking about the impact The Lovely Bones had on their lives. The reviews were outstanding. The back of the book sounded intriguing, a plot I've never read before that tugged at heartstrings. Unfortunately it does not live up to the expectations people have placed on it. Everything is flat, from the characters to the ending. Just an incredibly poor execution of what could have been a really good book.

From GoodReads: Alice Sebold creates a heaven that's calm and comforting, a place whose residents can have whatever they enjoyed when they were alive -- and then some. But Susie isn't ready to release her hold on life just yet, and she intensely watches her family and friends as they struggle to cope with a reality in which she is no longer a part. To her great credit, Sebold has shaped one of the most loving and sympathetic fathers in contemporary literature.
