Wow. It's been awhile since I really updated this thing.
[Therapy]Today I finally made the call to a counselor that I found mostly at random on the search function at work. I've been putting it off for days, feeling that same nervousness that I always feel when making a doctor's appointment. I'm doing my best not to think "80 steps ahead" as I'm wont to

Hon, I'm sorry. The intention is there, the desire, but anything I've been churning out since we worked on that has been half-assed at best, because I've been so stressed out.
Honestly, I want to keep at it. I want to deliver something whole as opposed to incomplete jibber-jabber, because as a reader, I tend to want to set on fire people who go "here, word vomit, because it's the thought that counts, right?". That said, I think GMH had an ending all its own and we indicated an intention to deliver a sequel, and even though my flatlined creative brain has put a huge stopper on what we were doing, we didn't even get to the PLOT yet, so I don't want to just...stop and call it quits.
I haven't forgotten. I do look at it, fairly often, actually, I just...I haven't been able to write in about a year. Coincides neatly with the work stresses, I just realized, when trying to count out how long its been since I've liked anything I wrote. It stands to reason that as things ease up, I hope my creativity will unstopper and I'll be an actual contributor.
I don't think we should be shamefaced or apologetic though. I mean, sure, I liked getting feedback, but I did it because I liked writing with you, I liked plotting things out and having great conversations. I liked telling a story.
I am shamefaced and apologetic to YOU for being a lump, but not to anyone else :o)
re: Korra
Hm. Will have to look into it. I have to admit, when everyone was watching AtLA, nothing about it struck my interest. I really think it's the female protag thing that's piquing it this time. But if you say watch AtLA, I will do my best to push myself in that direction, if only for the BACKSTORY. Even if the point is so I can get to Korra lol.
Oh, oh dear. Clumsy me, I *never* meant to cast any blame on you (or anywhere for that matter) about the lack of writing. Both of us moved on to other things and, as you said, various RL stress and things got in the way. No, no. I'm not complaining at all, I was merely wondering, but if you don't want to give up yet, that's fine with me. I'll be ready when you are.
re: AtLA
It is soo much fun! Also, it goes quickly, especially if you watch them on DVD (which I think is the only way these days...) there aren't any commercials so they're pretty short episodes. I watched all three seasons in the space of a couple of months I think when I was hankering for a re-watch and that was including the special features and things.
lol. Well technically it is the sequel. Aang - the titular character of Avatar: The Last Airbender - has to journey through a several month journey to learn the various "bending" disciplines that he doesn't know: Water (first season), Earth (second season), and Fire (third season). They're all connected as one big story, though each season has resolution for its own subplots and Season Fire resolves the larger overarching plot. Korra is a sequel in that it is a continuation of the Avatar cycle and what happens in her time is related to what happened in Aang's time.
Also, whatever you do, don't watch the live action movie The Last Airbender. It will make you weep at it's awfulness.
I was totally uninterested in it for forever and it seriously adorable and amazeballs. Korra is just building on that awesomeness. It has the same sense of humor, and I really love the direction they're taking with it (it's very 1920s, steampunk-ish whereas ATLA was a bit older), and they're picking apart things that weren't really examined in the first series, but obviously having an understanding of the existing world enhances that. But oh my god, the characters in ATLA are amazing - Sokka, my love, Toph, of all awesomeness. Sometimes it's silly and kiddy (it is a kid's show after all) but the writing is really great and there are just so many truly fantastic moments.
*dances in excitement* Isn't Korra great? And it's even better plotted in some ways than Avatar because they don't have any filler eps. I just love it when writers take worlds that they've established and do new things with them.
And is it wrong that I thought grownup!Aang was kinda hot in Korra's flashback?

Three seasons?! For some reason, since I kept seeing Korra as "the sequel", I thought it was just the one :op Shows how much I know...
