eHarmony update and loong entertainment list

I've decided to cancel my eHarmony subscription. I've put more effort into it this time and still nothing's happening. Clearly this isn't being blessed by God, so there's no point to it anymore. I'm a little conflicted on whether or not to keep the info up or delete it entirely... it seems a waste to just delete all that info after all the trouble ( Read more... )

geekery, podcasts, gaming, romance or lack thereof, tl;dr, tv shows, cool links, books, reading, movies

http://www.eventsandadventures.com/ Just recently aired on our radio station. They arrange 'adventures' for groups of singles with similar interests. The commercial said that they weren't a dating service. There's no long form to fill out and the only 'compatibility test' they do is to see what the individuals like to do. Did not realize they weren't local for us until I looked them up online. I have not researched them - have no reason to; married - so I have no idea if they're legit or not, but it might help? Also, Hubby and I used to attend a non-denom church that had a large number of singles. They had a special Sunday school group just for the singles since there were so many and they didn't fit in with the 'college' group or 'adult' group who were married couples. You may want to check your local churches' websites to see if they have singles' groups. IDK?

I have never really gotten into Tolkien... Travesty, I know. The movies were cool, but I've never been a big fan of fantasy. I feel like I'm missing a big chunk of literature for not enjoying fantasy stories. Lulzy sidenote: I was an elf for Halloween with ears and a mod dress/go-go white boots. (I was going to be a cute blue fairy but it was too cold and I had to wear a coat. It was too bulky to put the wings on.)

TV Front: I usually watch CSI, CSI:Miami, Criminal Minds, and XPlay. Not sure what's on Hulu or what is Hulu.

Thanks for the link! But... unfortunately the closest location to me is in Minneapolis (and by closest I mean it's 700 miles instead of 2000 miles away). :D Good idea though. Especially for people who just want to get out of the house.

I like the church I attend now - it's only problem is that all (or at least 99% of) the guys my age there are already married. It feels wrong to go to a different church just because I'm on the prowl. But, like I said, a good friend of mine is going to a different one and I may visit with her from time to time.

I have never really gotten into Tolkien...

Blasphemy! :O J/k. To each her own? And, to be fair, Tolkien's actual writing takes some getting used to. One of the interviews on the DVD extras put it about right: Tolkien would not be published in today's market. lol (At least, not without extensive edits.) Then again, we can thank the current market of fantasy literature to Tolkien himself so.

On my part, I'm not much into sci-fi (which is why my adoration of Mass Effect always takes me by surprise). I thought Star Trek was a little silly though I love Star Wars.
