9 - Pairings - For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favorite pairings to write?
Phantom - Erik/Christine; I wasn't interested in any other pairings, really. I can't even remember if there were other popular pairings for this fandom....
Cats (the musical) - I have a hard time remembering the cats' names... I think I liked the white cat and the magical cat together... who knows why. The musical isn't about pairings, from what I remember. Oh yeah, just remembered... I did once write a Macavity/OC story that was received pretty well. Oh boy. Glad I deleted that one. lol
Sherlock Holmes (incl. Mary Russell) - Holmes/Russell. There really isn't any other romantic ships to write for this series... I mean, I suppose you could extrapolate one from Mary's very brief mention of a "young man with a car" but the main focus of the series has always been Russell and Holmes. If non-romantic pairings are considered, I would have liked to see more of Russell and Watson. Watson is the only downside to the Russell series; he's relegated to bumbling sidekick again, which is a poor reflection of his character in the original stories, IMHO.
Lord Peter Wimsey - I don't think the two (?) stories I wrote about LP were pairings stories. Harriet featured in them, I think, but they weren't about the Lord Peter/Harriet ship.
Harry Potter - I liked the canon pairings (Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione), but, again, the little I wrote for HP wasn't based around 'ships.
Naruto - Ah, finally a fandom I can give a definite answer for. Naruto/Sakura, Iruka/Shizune, Kakashi/Ayame. This was my first experience writing pairings that technically didn't exist in canon. Naruto/Sakura you could make an argument for, but the others are complete fan fabrications. Yet, they work, oddly enough.
Bleach - Ichigo/Orihime and Renji/Rukia were the only pairings that ever held my interest, as far as I can remember.
Mass Effect - In order of favorite: femShep/Kaidan, Ashley/Joker, and... maybe Tali/Kal'Reegar. I also have a soft spot for femShep/Thane. But if we're counting sheer volume alone, that would definitely be Shenko.
Fallout - I never really had pairings for Fallout, at least not in Fallout 3. I like the idea of femCourier/Boone, but I never wrote anything for them. I also like the idea of femCourier/Arcade (yes, I know he's gay, but I spent most of the game not knowing that so I'd already built up a quasi-relationship in my head for them. lol)
Dragon Age - Anders/fHawke, Bethany/Nathaniel, Varric/Sigrun. Again with the pairings that aren't necessarily canon. Aside from Anders/Hawke, you can only get the sketchiest of canon evidence for Bethany/Nathaniel, but boy do they *really* work once you get them on a page together. I really adore that pairing. Varric/Sigrun *should* be canon, because if you get to know their personalities, it really seems like they would be a good fit.
