Pre-writing. Blech.

I've come to the conclusion that I hate pre-writing.

This shouldn't be a surprise. In school for essays and such, I rarely pre-wrote for anything. I got an idea, did my research, and sat down to write the essay. I don't think I ever got a bad grade on one all through college so it worked for me.

But novels. Novels are different beasts. They have things like multiple plot lines, multiple characters, new worlds requiring worldbuilding (well fantasy novels at any rate), and all this stuff before you can actually write. I'd rather be writing the story.

And I've tried. I have a couple of pages of this new story that's been eating me to bits. But I keep getting to parts that require worldbuilding or research and I lose my steam.

I'm not giving up, but I wish that everything popped into my head fully formed instead of the two word docs I have full of notes and MSPaint maps and whatnot.
