I'm so behind on LJ and everything. Boo. I do have a new icon, which is good. See? *points*
Life is boring, as usual. I've been reading a lot at work during my free time, which I usually have a lot of after lunch since my boss said we're not allowed to use the internet for other than work-related purposes. That really stinks, because sometimes I would work on stories and such... but I think I might try to do some writing tomorrow if time permits, because really, I barely have time to do that after work.
Today I started and nearly finished Lady of Quality by Georgette Heyer. You know, sometimes it's just fun to revel in a novel that doesn't have layers upon layers of meaning. Sure, her heroes tend to be from the same mold (swarthy, rich, and with usually with a sarcastic sense of humor), but occasionally there are real gems... "Arabella", "Frederica," and "Cotillion" come to mind immediately. But her prose is so light and witty, I am not ashamed to say that I enjoy her novels.
I've also finished A Wizard of Earthsea and was reminded of
synaesthete7's novel Knife in the similarity of the "true name" business. A good book, though, and I'm going to the library perhaps tomorrow to pick up the sequels.
Writing wise, besides having lately little time, I'm stuck on one of my newest stories. I like my heroine, but she's in a boring spot right now and she seems to have a tendency to get into boring situations while all the secondary characters have more opportunities for adventure. I'm not quite sure what to do about my quandry. One's main character shouldn't be dull. LOL
Gah, I've already went over the time that I don't have to spend online. Away I go, hopefully back soon to catch up on the f-list.
