Comment and I'll give you a letter. Then you come up with 10 words that begin with that letter, and explain what they mean to you.
1) Home: Home is a very versitile word. Right now it means where I live, but when I was at school, home was that (the dorm) and also my parents' house. Strange. I think there's some truth to the saying "home is where the heart is". It's the place where I feel like myself, where I can be myself without having to worry about who is watching and judging. It's the place where I can take my shoes off and wiggle my toes on the carpet, or put on a t-shirt with holes in it that I wouldn't wear anywhere else, but it's too comfy to throw away.
2) Heaven: Hope to get there someday. I like to think of Heaven as indescrible in its wonderfulness. I don't like the "unknown" so sometimes it can be scary in a way to think that this place is the place that I'm going to spend eternity, but then I remind myself of Who will be there and it's not so scary after all.
3) Hope: Emily Dickinson described it best:
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
I think, without hope, life would be very bleak indeed.
4) Hobbits: I've just finished re-reading 'Lord of the Rings' and I think I'm starting to prefer hobbits over all the species presented in his works. Elves used to be "it" for me, but really, they don't do that much except sing and look pretty. Then, of course, once the three Rings lose their strength, they are all about leaving Middle-Earth. Fooey on them. ~_^ Hobbits get to have round doors and eat a lot!
5) Hauteur: I got to use this word recently in an old Regency-era mystery I've been working on. :D Try it some time, it's fun! Makes me feel all Jane Austenish... Ooo, perhaps now I can work in "thither" and "felicity" somewhere. Hee!
6) Homework: The first few months after graduation, I actually missed homework. Yeah, you read that right. I missed having something to do that was intellectually stimulating. Plus, I was still missing college a lot then. Now, however, I'm trying to get intellectual stimulation on my own and I don't miss homework as much. LOL. I definately don't miss busy work, or having something random due the next day. Ahh, the joys of adult life.
7) Henry V: I had to take a Shakespeare class in college, and we read the Henry tetrology(?) the last couple of weeks. It was really good and now I have Henry V in my slowly growing collection of Shakespeare plays. I also need to see the Kenneth Branagh versions all the way through; we watched clips of them in class, but not nearly enough. *sigh* Yet another movie to add to my "watch" list...
8) Harry Potter: Is this cheating? Who cares? ;P Funny how such an ordinary name can conjure up such huge opinions. Harry is one of the most real characters I've read and I pray that JKR gets Book 7 done soon... I hope nothing bad happens to her before she does!! O_o
9) Hinduism: One of the most bizarre religions in the world. We had to study it for my history of the far east class and, really, since there are billions of Indians, more people should be learning about it if only to know where someone else is coming from. I respect this religion's reverence for life, though I think it can go too far where animals are concerned. Some of the Bhagavahd Gita (yes, I know I just butchered the spelling) is interesting as well, but definately slow work for this western, Christian student.
10) Honey: This stuff is really good. I mean, you can put it on toast, mix it with other things to make a fruit dip, and it's more or less healthy! Yay for regurgitated bee spit!
Woah. That was a lot harder than it looks. Glad that's done. LOL.
