SQUISH

Time for the biennial boob squishing. I dislike mammograms; I have fibrocystic breast tissue, and am also a member of the IBTC (itty bitty titty committee), and it's not really a good combination for these exams. On the plus side, this is one of the rare times I've had a mammogram where I didn't also have a large and tender cyst in one breast or the other, so... this time was painful but not nearly as bad as a few other exams I've had.

I saw Men in Black: International. It was unoriginal and had a lot of weak spots that could easily have been better written, but it was also a lot of fun, and the two leads had enjoyable chemistry, so thumbs up.

Finally finished season one of The Expanse. I was glad for the warning about a certain death; knowing that it was prolonged and painful (and let's not forget gruesome!), I skipped most of it.

So. This season was grim, but it didn't go past my own "Nah, I'm outta here" zone. I was sort of expecting that Miller would die. His death would have fulfilled the film noir aesthetic that his character embodies. He's the fatalistic detective with a heart of gold and a gun full of bullets; he even has the hat to go with it. Not to mention that falling in love with the dead woman that you're supposed to be finding is just such a film noir thing to do.

But... he didn't die. At least not yet. (Of the three white men with a fair amount of screen time in season one, he's my least favorite.)

I'm looking forward to having more women. Chrisjen and Naomi never interact, and that's about it for women who are in every episode. There should be a character named Bobbie Draper coming soon, right? I've seen her picture in posts about the show.

Shohreh Aghdashloo is so fantastic as Chrisjen. That scene where Chrisjen realizes that she's being lied to, but she can't let on that she knows is amazing. ~Acting!~
