in which I am impressed

The Magicians created a compelling in-universe reason for everyone to sing Queen/David Bowie's "Under Pressure" in order to save the day. At least temporarily.
(Video includes some swearing, so maybe don't play it loudly at work.)

(This all makes sense within the episode, but it's still enjoyable for the voices and the acting, even without context.)

Anyway. I'm still in season three, and I've gotten so attached to Fen lately. Too bad she's not part of Team Quest; instead, she had to look confused as Julia suddenly burst into song. I may have to dig around AO3 to see if there's any fanfic focused on her. There are lots of cool writing opportunities for a character like her: she was born and raised in Fillory, so you could world-build as well as explore characterization.

(I'm likely to be disappointed in this fic quest. I never did find any fic focused on Julia and her trauma/recovery after season one. Oh, fandom. So predictable in its focus on Quentin, Eliot, Quentin, Eliot, Quentin, Eliot... even before season four, they have the most stories. Which is fine! Everyone gets to focus on their own thing. But dang, sometimes it's just so tiresome seeing the same patterns repeat in every fandom.)
